The materials needed to upgrade each piece are; three straw and five magic wood at Tier 2, Tier 3 needs three desert ropes and five fireproof cloths, and to upgrade to Tier 4 you'll need two treated wood and two wires.

Iron Armour acts as a fairly balanced armour, offering both health and speed upgrades, making it the perfect armour for players who aren't inclined to play a particular way. The full set costs 12,000 Gold to buy and upgrades cost 44,000 Gold at Tier 2, 96,000 Gold at Tier 3, and 192,000 Gold at Tier 4.
Upgrades for this armour require the following materials; four strong leaves and two preserved roots at Tier 2, four magnetite and two insulating dust at Tier 3, and then two wolfram rock and gold strands for Tier 4.

Steel Armour is the strongest of the traditional three sets but also reduces your speed, making it better suited for players who prefer to charge into battle and focus on dealing damage, as opposed to avoiding it. The full set costs 12,000 Gold to complete and upgrades cost 44,000 Gold at Tier 2, 96,000 Gold at Tier 3, and 192,000 Gold at Tier 4.
If you're wanting to upgrade this set you'll need two ancient wood and five magic wood at Tier 2, a desert steel ingot and four flammable dust at Tier 3, and two copper reels and wolfram rocks at Tier 4.

It also has a fifth tier to buy and each tier costs the following: Tier 2 costs 506,00 Gold, Tier 3 costs 556,000 Gold, Tier 4 costs 606,000 Gold, and Tier 5 costs 656,000 Gold.
