"We've released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well," says Anpo. "Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more."
Resident Evil 4 Remake launched almost three years after Resident Evil 3 Remake. The gap between the first two remakes was a little over a year, however, so it's not clear how long we'll have to wait for the next game, whatever that ends up being.
As for what game is next, Anpo isn't giving us any clues. "What game we will remake in the future is something that we would like to announce in the future, so please look forward to it."
Right now, fans largely believe that Resident Evil 5 is the next up to get a remake. This theory has become even more popular after some say it was teased ඣin the Separate Ways expansion for Resident Evil 4. Sorry, Code: Veronica fans, but this would track with the release schedule so far. It seems that Capcom is less interested in spin-offs. However, given that the studio is going all-in on remakes, it might run out of older games to re-do and have to turn to Code: Veronica - we just shouldn't expect it to be prioritised over Resident Evil 5, it seems.
It's easy to see why Capcom is sticking to this formula. While Resident Evil 3 Remake came under fire at launch for its short length, Resi 2 and 4 Remakes have been hugely popular with fans and critics alike. The latest release is even up for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, up against heavyweights like Baldur's Gate 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
