Yesterday marked the 41st Golden Joysticks event, and boy was it a doozy. We already knew that this year's awards season was going to have to make a lot of tough calls with games like , , , and , but it seemed that most of the decisions were easy ones last night as Baldur's Gate 3 won nearly all of the big categories by a landslide.
Baldur's Gate 3 managed to win seven whole awards last night, including Studio of the Year, Gജame of the Year, Best St൩orytelling, and Best Visual Design, just to name a few.
Although you'd think that Larian's beloved RPG coming away with so many awards would be the most noteworthy thing to happen at the Golden Joysticks, it was actually another game's victory that got everyone talking, although perhaps not for the best reasons. One of the most surprising moments of the night was when Mortal Kombat 1 was awarded the "Best Multiplayer Game" award, something that's proven to be a controversial move.

for Best Multiplayer Game - . Not only does Street🌌 Fighter 6 have excellent combat mechanics, charming characters, and a variety of modes, but it also has pretty much all of the features listed above that Mortal Kombat 1 is lacking.
With such a clear difference in multiplayer features between Mortal Komat 1 and Street Fighter 6, it's really not clear to most players why the former won instead of the latter. Mortal Kombat 1 was received positively by critics and fans (well, except for the Premium Store), but it's still missing so many different multiplayer features that it's one of the most surprising awards at the whole event.
