Omni-Man Is Nothing Like 𓂃Superman In Mortal Kombat 1
Omni-Man and Homelander seem too similar for one Kombat Pack, but after pl🌜aying Omni-M🍃an, I'm convinced they'll be nothing alike.
There is one big caveat, though. As the leaks suggested prior to any of Kombat Pack 1's characters even being released, this version of Takeda is a little different than he was in Mortal Kombat X. In Liu Kang's new timeline, he's Kenshi's cousin instead of his son and originally started out as a yakuza member instead of the loveabℱle yet cocky hero we got to kno🦋w in MKX.
Don't Worry, Mortal Kombat X's Takeda Is Still Out There Somewhere
Mortal Kombat 1 might have drastically changed Takeda's backstory for Liu Kang's new timeline, but it does at least pay respect to the version of the character we saw in Mortal Kombat X. Not only are there a ton of references to the Takeda we knew (), but we also get to see him in action if you pit Takeda against himself.
that implies the new timeline iteration of the character is going up against the one we saw in MKX. One particularly interesting interaction has the old Takeda expressing surprise that the new version is Kenshi's cousin instead of his son.
"Cassie, Jacquꦫi, 🅰Kung Jin, me: they call us the Kombat Kids."
Another bit of pre-match banter has the old Takeda calling out the names of the Kombat Kids, while the new Takeda asks if the group's nickname is supposed to be an insult. The alternate version of everyone's favourite Kombat Kid also has him referencing his telepathic abilities, something that the current Takeda lacks and says he doesn't want.
The final potential interaction between the two Takedas is one that'll make shippers happy, as the MKX Takeda desperately says that there must be a version of Jacqui in this new timeline, something that gets a confused and somewhat angry response from the MK1 Takahashi. It looks like their love is still going strong in the old universe.
All of these pre-match bits of dialogue suggest that the version of Takeda who appears during mirror matches is the one we all grew to love in Mortal Kombat X. It's a shame that his current story has been changed around so much considering how strong it was in that game, but at least he's alive, well, and somehow jumping across timelines.
