Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection is getting a
Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a continuation of the Mortal Kombat franchise, originally released in the early 90s. Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath was released just over a year ago in March of 2019, but will now have expanded storylines and new characters to choose from. A physical copy of the game is currently available for preorder on Amazon and will be officially released on June 16th. But “physical copy” is a ♕loosely used term here as what’s available for preorder doesn’t actually contain꧃ a game cartridge.
According to the product description Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection will include character customization options, an expanded character selection, and no cartridge. Rather than a disk, Switch users will be given a redeemable game code. It could be that this decision stems from the pandemic, as there will only be a digital release available in the UK. But, to be clear, that means that gamers in the UK 🌟will only have the option of a good old fashioned digital download—not buying a box with a code in it like the Americas.
At $59.99 it’s hard to say that buying a Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath box is the smart thing to do. If the box contained limited edition or special art it might be justifiable to day one MK fans, but as it is it seems mostly to just be guaranteed clutter. Plus, having a perpetually empty case might send a lot of people into a frenzy of couch cushion flipping, panicking and wondering where they put their Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath cartridge.
