While Mortal Kombat: Legacy did a commendable job in quenching our thirst, it has been over 20 years since a Mortal Kombat movie has made an appearance on the big screen; 23 years since the release of the original film in 1995. However, it looks like the Warner Bros. and New Line Mortal Kombat reboot being produced by James Wan 𝓀– in August 2015 – is actually moving forward full stea🧸m ahead, and will be introducing a brand new character to the franchise.
New character, Cole Turner, will make his debut in the Mortal Kombat universe as the film’s lead protagonist, according to a report from .
Cole’s character description is as follows:
Lead Male. 30s. A brand new character to the MK franchise. Cole is a struggling and widowed boxer who cares more about his young da🐼ughter than anything. He is incredibly determined and re🥀fuses to quit in the face of fantastical adversity.
If the premise of Cole’s character description sounds vaguely familiar for 90’s fighting games, you’re not far off. Jax, who was initially introduced in Mortal Kombat II video game, was originally developed as kickboxer. However, he was redeveloped as Sonya Blade’s military counterpart due to the fact that the Street Fighter franchise already had a boxing character in Balrog. Jax will reportedly also be making another theatrical appearance in the reboot, working with Cole as well as a newly reimagined Sonya Blade (check out her new ch🐈aracter description below).
Sonya’s new description isn’t the only thing that will stand out to fans. The film also appears to be moving away from other Mortal Kombat staples, such as Johnny Cage, as well as fan-favorites, Sub-Zero and Scorpion, whose character descriptions are notably absent from the list. It would likely be a huge miss for the new reboot to not include the mortal enemies. Obviously, not all of the characters fꦍrom the massive collection can be included in the film, but hopefully the iconic duo will be added in some capacity, at least as a nod to the long-time fa🍌ns of the franchise.
Although his descrip♏tion is brief, Cole seems to be the typical kind of character that will be easy to root for. While the continually successful vღideo games have introduced new characters to the series, Cole should provide a breath of fresh air for the films, getting away from the films’ former lead protagonist of Liu Kang (who is also reported to be included in the reboot).

Female. 25-35. A drop dead gorgeous woman that is part of the Outworld side. She wears a sheer gown over thigh-hig🐎h boots and a revealing one-piece, with a veil that covers her nose and mouth.
JACKSON "JAX" BRIDGES
Male. 30-40. “Jax” is a strapping mercenary/military 🔜officer who loses both of his hands in an attack and then joins Sonya and Cole to fight the Outworld.

Male. 20-35. A f﷽ire throwing ninja war♈rior who is a talented Earth realm champion.

Male. 25-35. T♕he mute warrior monk brother of Liu Kang, who yields an all powerful boomerang hat.

Male. No age specified. The great sorce♊rer of Outworld, whose presence is a storm cloud of dark energy. His ever-changing roulette of faces unfurls an evil smile.
DRAHMIN
Male. 25-35. An Oni devil mask over his face, his bo🌠dy is composed of twisted sinewy skin, a heavy spiked club♊ replaces one arm.
KABAL
Male. 25-35. An evil assassin of Outworld, he is outfitted in a black armored vest and trench coat. His entire head is covered by a scarred black res♎pirator. His signature weapons are two𝓀 razor-sharp hook swords.
NITARA
Female. 25-35. A black-haired vampire of Outworld. Two massive leathery batwings protrude from her bare shou✤lders. Fresh ꦛblood drips from her fangs.
REIKO
Male. 25-40🔥. An armor-clad Outworld General with white glowing eyes. He drags a massive war hammer with him.
THE OVERSEER
