Henchmen are an important part of video games. Without♛ them, many♋ titles would be very short, as there would be nothing stopping the protagonist from reaching and defeating the antagonist. Of course, that is not the case with every game, as it depends on how the adventure is structured. But in most cases, henchmen are vital in prolonging a narrative.
There are different types of henchmen. Some are on the front lines and are little more than cannon fodder. There are others, though, that are𝕴 more well-defined characters that have a significant role in the story themselves. When it comes to video game enemies, there aren't many as famous as Goombas. These cute little mushroom guys feature in most Super Mario games. Her boss, of course, is The Joker. Technically, they're lovers, but the Clown Prince mainly keeps her around to help with his schemes. And she does a decent job at it, whether she's stealing life-saving cures or taking Warden Sharp hostage. As always, her behavior is wacky and unpredictable whatever she's doing, but she remains loyal to her puddin'.
4 ﷽ Grunts - Halo Series

It never happens, but Vaas steals the show anyway with his long, captivating speeches. After all, while he is clearly an unstable and evil fellow, you can't deny his incredible charisma, which helps him become the most memorable part of the whole game. And in hindsight, he probably should've served as the true big bad.
1 ♐ Arthur Morgan - Red Dead Redemption 2
Protagonists aren't often thought of as henchmen, but that is certainly the role Arthur Morgan plays in Red Dead Redemption 2. His leader is the charismatic Dutch Van Der Linde, who runs the Van Der Linde gang. They're a criminal group that robs and kills people for their own gain. Morgan is one of the most celebrated members of the crew, and he shares an almost father-son relationship with Dutch.
However, during the game, things go south for everybody involved. In the process, Dutch begins to lose his mind and make a host of irrational decisions. As a result, Arthur struggles to remain loyal to his leader. It's an incredible tale, and Morgan is one of the best gaming protagonists ever.
