Summary

  • Mother turned 35 over the weekend and an announcement you might have missed was made to mark the occasion.
  • Four plushes, each of them a different character from the original game, were revealed - Ninten, Andy, Lloyd, and Teddy.
  • It'll be a while before you can buy them, releasing in 2025, and hopefully they won't be Japan exclusives.

Mother is one of Nintendo's stranger series. Not because of the content of the games, but due to the way it was rolled out regarding dates, name changes, and in the case of Mother 3, not getting released outside Japan at all no matter how much you might want it to be. That's one of the reasons why despite its popularity, you might not know much about it even though it celebrated its 35th anniversary over the weekend, a milestone that was marked via the reveal of four new plushes.

Didn't know about that either, or that Mother even celebrated a significant landmark two days ago? That's unsurprising considering how little attention was given to the plushes and the anniversary as a whole. Normally there'd be uproar, but Nintendo barely acknowledging one of its series turned 35 on July 27 is rather fitting of how it has treated Mother for the past three and a half decades.

We've got Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams to blame for this sadly❀ unlocalized sequ🅷el.

News that four characters from the original game have been turned into plushes was shared on and its Twitter account. A single image of the plushes being held by two happy children was shared along with confirmation that the toys will be available to buy in 2025. The four characters to receive the plush treatment are Ninten, Anna, Lloyd, and Teddy, although it hasn't been clarified whether the quartet will need to be bought as a set or if they'll be available to buy individually.

You'll Have To Wait To Buy Them, But Mother Fans Should Be Used To Waiting

The last Mother plush drop was released earlier this year and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:featured four characte♒rs from Mother 3. In that instance, they were a set, so it seems likely the same will apply to the new plushes revealed over the weekend. Even though Japan has been the focus of Mother and its developers for that 35-year run, the Mother 3 set available now also makes it seem likely that even though it hasn't been confirmed, the set should be available to buy outside of Japan.

As noted above, Mother 3 has never been released outside of Japan despite fans asking for it. That the Mother 3 plush set can be bought outside of Japan is almost a cruel taunt by Nintendo. Acknowledging that people love the series so much that they'll buy plushes from an installment they've never legally been able to play. At least the new sets of plushes coming in 2025 are all characters that officially exist outside of Japan via Mother, or Earthbound Beginnings as it's known in the US.
