Where To Find And Recruit Companions

Most are given generic names and models, but if you search the place from top to bottom, you’ll often find one with a unique name. Start a dialogue with them, and more often than not, they will be willing to join you for a price.
To speed things up, you can also start your search by asking for help from the barkeep, who will let you know if there are any ava💟ilable companions nearby, and what special skills th𓄧ey might happen to have.
In the case there are none there, you can simply check another tavern.
Once you’ve started a dialogue with a potential companion, they will share their backstory with you, explain some of their talents and ask for an initial fee. This changes depending on the character, but you will always have to pay something. Once they have joined your faction, they😼 will usually stay with you for the rest of the game.
It might be a wise idea to turn off companion deaths before you start playing, because investing in one heavily only for them to die on the ba🧸ttlefield is a pain.
There are a couple of other notable ways that a companion can join you. Sometimes a companion will join you for the duration of a quest, which can be as long as 200 days. You also get access to your brother as a companion early in the game. Whatever you do, keep him at your side.

It's also worth noting that companion skills don’t stack on top of yours, and it’s better to have a varied range of specialists.
While you’re out in the world, you may come across the opportunity to partake in a quest. You're always welcome to do it yourself, but it is more efficient later in the game to send your most capable companions out to complete the quest for you.
If you discuss the quest with the NPC and you have a companion capable of doing it, they will show up as an option. You might be asked to sign some of your troops to take with🐬 them, depending on the job.
Their skills and abilities will affect how likely they are to succeed, how long they will be gone, and how many 𓄧of your men might die in the process. Obviously, having companions with different builds means you will have a better chance of being able to tackle a large ra🐟nge of scenarios.
Companions And Parties
Companions can play a big role in how your party performs, and can even lead parties themselves. Assigning them a specific role in a party allows you to take advantage of some skills they have that are superior to yours.

This means that, if you haven’t invested any points in engineering, you can simply assign a companion to the role of engineer in your party, and all of a sudden, you&𝓰rsquo;ll be leaping over enemy walls in a single bound.
In the clan tab, you also have the option to create parties secondary to the one you control. The higher your ꧒clan rank, the more parties you can create.
This can be expensive as troop wages stack up, but it also makes it possible for you to create very large armies that would otherwise be impossible to control at the cost of no influence to make. In the clan tag, simply press the ‘create party’ button and assign one of your companions to it.

The way to do this is to approach a merchant in a town and start a dialogue with them. If you have 15,000 and a free companion, you can send them alo🎐ng with the caravan and simply receive the profits once the🔜y return.
How To Recover Lost Companions
Unfortunately, losing a battle can be very costly. Not only are you parted with glory, wealth, items, freedom, troops, feelings of self-worth, and influence, but also any companions you have in your party. If you have companion deaths turned off, finding and recovering them is often a simple affair. In fact, the process is always the same.
Open up the clan tab that you can find on the bottom left of your screen (It has the icon of a lion’s head). It should present you with a list of all the notable NPCs you are related to, by 🗹blood or otherwise. It should indicate where they are and what they are doing next to their name.
If they are not in your party, there will be a recall icon that looks like a bust with an arrow circling it. Clicking on this will recall them to your party if it is possible. It will also let you know the number of days it will take before they are automatically added back into your party. If it's not possible, hovering your cursor over the recall button should tell you why.
The Most Powerful Companion In The Game
Your starting companion, your brother, is one of the strongest companions in the game. You will unlock him by completing the tutorial quest at the beginning. Once you have saved your younger siblings from the bandits and are let loose in the world to pursue your own goals, you will have to find him by checking the clan tab and finding which city he is resting at. It will usually be one very close by.
When you recall him to your party you will find that he actually starts off with an incredible number of levels and stat points. They aren’t assigned from the start, so you ar𒐪e free to build at least one very powerful supporter as you wish.
The best way to take advantage of this opportunity is to sink points into the steward and leadership skills. This way, you can make him into an extremely capable🦩 governor, something that will make the many parts of the game m𒁃uch easier.
The Heroic Leader perk, for example, will make it much easier for you to retain control ove𝓀r large, disloyal settlements later in the game that 🅠doesn’t match your character’s culture.
