Games have been tethered to films since the early days of Tron. While this relationship is long-lasting, it hasn't always been smooth. One of the biggest issues is authenticity. It is difficult to buy in when the voice of the titular character is a bad imitation.

While the N64's GoldenEye showed us that you don't need to have the movie's actors to be great, it is undeniable that the lack of the original cast makes the cutscenes in that game a little awkward (and eerily quiet). However, some games got it right on all fronts. There are games that were able to snag the original cast and craft a compelling experience around them.

9 ⛎ Th♉e Godfather

The Godfather video game gameplay screenshot

The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series clearly owes a lot to The Godfather movies, so it is only appropriate that they would liberally borrow the GTA gameplay for the video game adaptation. And it all works quite well. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:There have been many GTA imitators, and it is safe to say thﷺat The Godfather ended up being one of th⛎e best of the bunch.

More excitingly, a whole host of the classic film's actors came back to voice different roles for the game. That includes the film legends James Caan and Robert Duvall. Tragically, while Marlon Brando did lend his voice to the game, most of the recordings were of poor quality (due to him having recorded the lines while being hospitalized). However, some of those recordings did make it into the game, making this the storied actor's final performance.

8 Stranglehold 🃏

Stranglehold featuring Chow Yun-Fat and a flock of doves

Stranglehold is a videogame sequel to the classic Gun-Fu film Hard Boiled, and Chow Yun-Fat is back to reprise his role as detective Tequila. Stranglehold does an excellent job bringing John Woo's signature style to the game. Video games had already been aping his movies for the better part of a decade, so it only makes sense that Woo would enter into the arena.

Stranglehold is focused on the (Woo-inspired) bullet time mechanic, but it is the stage interactivity that really puts it over the top. You will be sliding across tables, riding trolleys, and bounding off walls, all while in slow motion. Chow Yun-Fat gives an exceedingly hammy performance, but it i✨s pitch-perfect for the exceedingly hammy script. Expect melodrama, tough guy one-liꦛners, and a giant dollop of nonsense.

7 🅺 Toy Story 2

Toy Story 2 PS1

Toy Story 2 is a punchy little platformer that colorfully depicts the world of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Toy Story. The sense of scale here is really well handled (think Micro Machines on the NES). The platforming feels good and the stages are well designed, making it a very competent platforme🏅r with a lot of charm.

Toy Story 2 features nearly the entire cast from the feature film, though Woody is voiced by Tom Hanks' brother Jim Hanks. Tim Allen brings his trademark energy to his role. While the voiced dialogue is a little on the scant side, what is here is expertly delivered. That being said, you are going to very quickly wish that they hadn't chosen to have Buzz make an "oof" sound every time he jumps.

6 The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay ღ 🎃

Vin Diesel may be a bit of a meme, but there is one thing you cannot deny about this man; when he is involved in the creation of a game, he goes all in. Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher's Bay is an excellent first-person shooter with competent stealth mechanics. There is also a great mechanic based around eliminating light sources to give you an advantage.

Now on to Vin himself. He is great here — like, really, really great, better than he is in most movies. Vin Diesel is easily the highlight of the game's genuinely good story.

5 🤪 Alien Isolation

Ripley in Alien Isolation

While the Alien series has been linked to a number of not-so-great adaptations, and some even worse video game sequels, there is one example of a fantastic Alien game that gets it all right: Alien Isolation. The emphasis is on horror here. While Amanda Ripley will acquire a number of weapons throughout the game, this is a horror title that focuses much mor🔜e he🉐avily on hiding and evading.

Incredibly, the entire cast from Alien returns to reprise their roles (and yes, that does include Sigourney Weaver). The performances here are great, and they only add to Isolation's authenticity. Some of the DLC content even allows you to relive some of the key segments from the original film. Ultimately, Alien Isolation is Alien's true sequel.

4 Mortal Kombat 11 ꦍ🐎

Mortal Kombat Klassic Movie Pack featuring Christopher Lambert, Linden Ashby, and Bridgette Wilson-Sampras

It isn't a secret that, since the release of the first 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mortal Kombat film, the game series has incorporated a number of key elements from it. From changing Kano's country of origin to adopting the movie's motivation for Johnny Cage entering the tournament, Netherrealm Studio has been lovingly integrating aspects of the film. However, with Mortal Kombat 11's Klassic Character DLC, we now have the likenesses of four key cast members as well as their voices.

All the returning cast does a great job here. Linden Ashby and Christopher Lamb𒁏ert chew the scenery appropriately, and Bridgette Wilson is a huge improvement over Ronda Rousey, but Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is the show stopper. Tagawa perfectly finds the balance between sincerity and schlock; he is one hundred percent attuned to the tone of Mortal Kombat.

3 The Wღarriors 𒈔

Rockstar's The Warriors featuring the gang walking toward the camera

While gaming has gone through a bit of a beat 'em up renaissance in the past decade or so, during the PS2 era the pickings were s🎐lim. An unlikely savior for the𒆙 series emerged in the form of a remake of a late 70s cult classic: The Warriors.

Breathtakingly, nearly the entire (huge) cast i🥀s back again. Moreover, you can reaꦜlly tell that they are absolutely pleased as punch to be back. The dialogue is all delivered with energy, and the cast sounds great. The Warriors is the perfect example of how the original cast can give a movie game a ton of life. Can you dig it?

2 𓂃 X-Men Origins: Wolveꦆrine

It isn't often that the movie tie-in game is substantially better than the movie it is based on. However, that is exactly the case with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Here players will hack and slash their way through a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Wolverine-centric action game. While the moviꦰes were pretty bashful when it came to the amount of⛄ gore present on screen, the game revels in bloody dismemberment.

Better yet, everyone's favorite Australian actor turned Canadian superhero is here to give life to the dialogue. Other cast members are back as well, but Hugh Jackman is clearly the center of attention, and he does a great job. This is a game worth checking out.

1 🔥 Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters Best Games 2 video remastered

This is the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ghostbusters experience many fans w𒅌anted, featuring an all-new story, written by Aykroyd and Ramis, and performed by all of the original Ghostbusters. This is a well-made third-person shooter, but more than anything it is designed to give the original cast a reason to interact with each other.

As for those legendary performances, they are all great here. Bill Murray sounds a little more off-kilter, but his performance is still a lot of fun. It is also notable that this is the final performance by Harold Ramis as a Ghostbuster♑, making this the final Ghostbusters experience with the whole cast.
