Wizards of the Coast has announced it's finally going to print in-universe versions of last year's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Magic The Gathering Secret Lair x The Walking Dead cards, despite previously saying it wasn't planning to do so.
Much like the recent 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Stranger Things crossover, last year saw a number of characters from The Walking Dead get their own Magic cards. Unlike usual Secret Lair releases,🌃 which tend to just be new art on old cards, these were brand new and mechanically unique cards. This caused major backlash from the community, particularly because the cards were only available for a few weeks before seem🦩ingly never being printed again.
However, Wizards has now revised its on Universes Beyond crossover cards. Now, the cards will follow the same policy as Stranger Things and other Universes Beyond Secret Lairs, and will get versions without the Walking Dea♛d characters printed into set boosters in an upcoming set.
This means that, while you'll likely never be able to buy the great Human tribal 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Commander Rick, Steadfast Leader ever again, you'll be able to buy a card with an in-Magic-universe flavour that does the exact same thing and is treated as the same card in terms of deckbuilding limitations. It's pretty much the same as how Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths gave certain creatures from the set their own 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Godzilla-themed alternate art cards.
This policy only applies to the limited-time Secret Lair drops that use Magic's external IP crossover umbrella, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Universes Beyond. Any other Universes Beyond products, like the upcoming Warhammer 40k Commander decks or the Lord of the Rings set won't see in-universe reprints.
On the other hand, it does mean we'll eventually get reprinted versions of the upcoming 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Street Fighter Universes Beyond Secret Lair, which has already been confirmed to include mechanically unique cards based on characters from Capcom's fighting game series, like Chun-Li.
No date for any reprints from either The Walking Dead or Stranger Things have yet to be announced. However, following Wizards' own statement, we can expect the Stranger Things cards to make a reappearance sometime around the release of Streets of New Capenna in Q2, 2022.
