To help out, Owen and Matilda are putting on a Food Drive, and in return for donations, anyone can get signed up for the accompanying competition, the Dance-Off. In this guide, we'll show you how to put your rhythm and dancing skills to use to win the competition and help out the town at the same time.

How To Unlock The Dance-Off

The Dance-Off competition becomes available after the Moisture Farm has been damaged. While it's still broken, attending one of the weekly Fi꧑reside Missions on Sunday will bring with it news of food issues for the town of Sandrock.

Owen will suggest a combination of food drive and competition, and Matilda will further refine the idea into the Dance-Off.

For three days, a Food Drive will be available for all members of the town to donate food to, and donating at least one item of food will sign you up for the competition.

The easiest food items to acquire are Sandberries, which are gathered from Sandberry Bushes, and Ant Honey, which is obtained from defeating Bumble Ants.

Both can be found throughout the desert outside Sandrock.

How To Win The Dance-Off

The Dance-Off lasts for two days, and on each of those days, it begins at 2 pm in the afternoon.

When it starts, you'll need to go to the Blue Moon Saloon's stage and interact with the countertop next to it to enter.

At the counter, you can choose between three difficulties: Easy, Normal, or Hard.

Your choice of difficulty will determine the amount of inputs, the overall speed of the song, the amount of Competition Badges you win, and how good your opponent's performance is.

  • Placing number one on Easy will reward you with 60 Competition Badges.
  • Placing number one on Normal will reward you with 75 Competition Badges.
  • Placing number one on Hard will reward you with 90 Competition Badges.

Similar to various rhythm games, you'll be matching your button or key inputs in time with music.

Single input notes need to be tapped, while long input notes need to be held down until the input comes by again, and correctly timing inputs will allow you to build up a combo.

Correct timing and achieving a high combo is the key to a winning score, though achieving combos can help offset any timing issues you may have.

The most effective way to earn plenty of Competition Badges is placing number one in Normal, as it offers a decent amount of badges while still being relatively easy and not having the four 🅺to five inputs♓ in a row Hard can have.

You can still win placement on Hard if you hit a high combo with Perfects and Greats, even if you miss several long input notes.

Each performance in the Dance-Off takes two hours, and it ends at 8 pm in the evening, meaning you have four chances times to place each day.

Your time will still pass if you quit out of a competition placement, so you aren't able to reset individual placements for a better performance or a better set of not🌜es to input.
