My T🌟ime At Sa💧ndrock: How To Get Plastic Scrap

Eventually, in My Time at ꦦSandrock, you'll need to gather some Plastic Scrap. But where to find it?

Each time you craft an item or machine, it has a chance to be of higher quality, but it's not guaranteed. Most often you'll get the standard quality, and you can't always just spend tons of resources hoping you get that Perfect or Rare item, especially for a commission. If you need a high quality item, look no further than the Refiner.

How To Obtain A Refiner

Player character looking in their machine diagram book and looking at the page detailing the Refiner and what materials it needs in My Time At Sandrock.

Like many machines in Sandrock, you'll first need to use Data Disks to research the blueprint with Qi, the resident scientist in town. The Refiner takes eight Data Disks to research, and after th♈ree days, Qi wil﷽l send the blueprint to you in a letter.

You'll need five materials to craft a Refiner: a Bronze Blade, Copper Screws, Marble Slabs, Rubber Shells, and Hardwood Sticks.

Refiner Material

How To Increase An Item's Quality

Player character using Bloodstones to refine their Perfect quality Vintage Assault Rifle into Rare quality and gaining attributes in My Time At Sandrock.

Once you've got your Refiner placed down, interact with it and you'll get a list of every upgradeable item across both your inventory and storage. Almost any item in the game can have its quality upgraded, and by using gemstones such as Opal, you'll be able to upgrade an item to one of the four tiers of quality: Ordinary, Outstanding, Perfect, and Rare.

Quality is one of the factors that determine how much an item is worth in Gols, as well as its tool strength, stats in the case of armor, or equipment strength if it's a weapon.

Taking an item and upgrading it to Perfect or Rare quality using the Refiner can potentially give it a unique attribute.

In the Refiner, select the item you want to upgrade, such as a Plastic Shell, and you'll see a box containing its current quality, stats, and items, and which gemstone you'll need to upgrade it.

Player character in the inventory of the Refiner and deciding whether to upgrade the quality of a Plastic Shell in My Time At Sandrock.

Each item will need a few of one of the game's eleven gemstones, and the cost of upgrading the item increases as the quality gets higher until you reach the final quality tier, Rare. In the case of weapons, armor, and tools, you can also continue upgrading Rare quality materials to reroll them for different unique attributes.

You can refine crafting materials to a higher quality for commissions without having to spend resources crafting one a🅘nd hoping you get one of the quality you need.
