What Are Relation Perks?

In My Time at Sandrock, as you increase your friendship with the townsfolk, you'll notice the stars below their name (or hearts, if they're a romance option) begin to fill with color.

This means you're getting closer to that person! And though there's plenty to be said for friendship alone, with most of the NPCs in My Time at Sandrock, you'll also earn an additional bonus for reaching relationship benchmarks with them.

This is true of every relationship you have - human and animal alike. The human residents of Sandrock have three benchmarks - Buddy, Friend, and Good Friend - while the animals can only reach Friend.

And though every relationship is intricate in its own way, you'll notice patterns in relationship perks based on the kind of work your friends do.

Shopkeepers almost consistently offer discounts at their stores as you grow closer. The animals and some human NPCs lead to you gaining bonus stats for your character, like extra health or stamina. The majority of the human NPCs will simply send you occasional gifts in the mail.
