Mythical Pokemon are the most sought-after for fans and completionists because they're incredibly rare and hard to find legitimately. There are distribution cartridges that can restore long-lost events and hacks to add them into your game. However, if you want a more authentic mythical, you'll have to be resourceful. Collecting a Pokemon like Mew, Jirachi, or Celebi wasn't as simple as connecting your console to Wi-Fi distribution events.

Pokemon distribution events used to require a trip to GameStop, Toys R Us, or even across the country. Only the most dedicated fans were able to get incredibly rare Pokemon that haunted your Pokedex. Once the events were over, that was it. Even when Wi-Fi events෴ became standard, you still had to pick up an access code from a local Gamestop. Sadly, myt༒hical Pokemon have no practical purpose besides filling up a living dex.

While the Pokemon Company brought back all their long-lost mythical for their 20th Anniversary, most of them have become unobtainable again. Fortunately, if you're a stickler for authenticity and love long-forgotten video games, there are several ways you can still obtain a mythical Pokemon!

7 Mew - The Ori𒊎ginal ✨

Mew in Pokemon Ranch and Pokemon Go

Without a doubt, Mew has been the number one Pokemon that has illuded fans since 1996. Whether through the infamous bus rumor or the MissingN0 glitch, people were crazy about Mew. Don't worry about resorting to glitches because there's a way to get an army of Mews without cheating.

Pokemon Ranch was first released on the Wii in 2008 as Generation Four's version of Pokemon Box. Pokemon Ranch had a special reward for players who extensively used the game. After depositing 999 Pokemon from your copy of Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, Hayley, the farm owner, asks you to bring her any Pokemon Egg. If you accept her trade, she'll give you a level 50 Mew. The process is tedious and requires two consoles, but you can reobtain Mew by resetting Pokemon Ranch as needed.

Another surefire way to get Mew is to finish the Special Research Quest, A Mythical Discovery, in Pokemon Go. It's an incredibly lengthy and involved process that requires a lot of free time and grinding. In true Pokemon fashion, you can't transfer Mew to Pokemon Home.

6 Celebi - A Couple 🎀Paths To Acquisition ꦑ

Celebi in Pokemon Colosseum Pokemon Go and Pokemon Crystal

Celebi has been present in many distribution events, but its best distribution was the GS Ball event. The event was exclusive to Japan as you needed a Mobile System GB to download the event on Poke🍃mon Crystal.

The Virtual Console version of Pokemon Crystal simplifies the original event. You only needed to beat the Elite Four once then go to the PokeCenter in Goldenrod City. Once there, take that GS Ball to Kurt in Azalea Town. You'll still need to wait for 24 hours to battle Celebi at the Illex Shrine. Fortunately, you can reset Pokemon Crystal and repeat as much as you like.

This alternative option is a bit more intensive as all of these things need to be Japanese. You need a copy of Pokemon Colosseum, a Gamecube with a Game Boy Player attachment, and a copy of Pokemon Emerald, R𝔍uby, Sapphire, FireRed, or LeafGreen.

You'll have to beat Pokemon Colosseum and your personal choice of GBA Pokemon games. Each disc awards you 48 Celebi that can be traded to 48 separate instances of Pokemon RSE and FRLG. You can repeat the reward by resetting both games. Pokemon Go has a Special Research Quest called A Ripple in Time that allows you to obtain Celebi, but it can't leave Pokemon Go.

5 🤪 Jirachi - Regional Ver𝓡sions

Ways to obtain Jirachi in Pokemon Colosseum Pokemon Channel and Pokemon Go

Jirachi was first obtainable by preordering Pokemon Colosseum in the United States. If you didn't preorder, you were out of luck. To get Jirachi, you need a Gamecube and a Game Boy Advance Link Cable, as well as a copy of Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire. Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire only required players to have the Pokedex and an empty party slot. Jirachi could only be redeemed once per save. If you have resources and money, you can still redeem Jirachi from the bonus disc as the gift never expired.

In Europe and Australia, their version of Pokemon Channel, a Gamecube exclusive, had a Jirachi gift. The requirements were pretty simple: beat Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire and complete the story in Pokemon Channel. Jirachi is only redeemable once per save. If you're in the US and this method seems appealing, you'll need a Gamecube and a copy of Pokemon Channel from Europe or Australia.

The Pokemon Go Special Research Quest, A Thousand-Year Slumber, allows players to capture their own Jirachi, but it's also unable to be transferred.

4 Deoxys - Also Co♛ntains Ea෴ster Eggs

deoxys

Although Deoxys was only available with an Aurora Ticket in Generation III, Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire's Delta Episode allowed you to capture Deoxys without unnecessary requirements. To capture Deoxys, you need to beat the Elite Four in OmegaRuby or AlphaSapphire. After that, the Delta Episode quest will activate. Go through the story and enjoy yourself: it's not going anywhere.

This post-game campaign also has a lovely nod to the many rumors and misinformation around Mossdeep Space Center by having a climactic showdown between Rayquaza and Deoxys. Pokemon Go allows you to capture Deoxys in a raid battle. Unfortunately, those are special time-based events. You're also able to transfer Deoxys, unlike most other mythical in Pokemon Go. Hopefully, Niantic has an upcoming one on the horizon.

3 🐈 Manaphy - A Bit Convoluted To Obtain

Manaphy Egg in Pokemon Ranger

Manaphy's debut was unlike other mythic Pokemon. You had to own a copy of Pokemon Ranger and input a secret code from the website. After that, it activates a special mission that you need to complete to transfer the Manaphy egg to a Generation IV game. The Wii-U version of Pokemon Ranger prevents you from using the Mystery Gift feature.

You will need a DS and a new copy of Pokemon Ranger. For obvious reasons, the Pokemon Company created a trigger in Pokemon Ranger. Once the egg was redeemed, resetting the game wouldn't allow you to repeat the mission and collect another Manaphy.

You need to either co🔴mpletely erase the save from Pokemon Ranger or obtain an unopened copy of Pokemon Ranger. New copies of🃏 Pokemon Ranger run around a few hundred dollars.

2 Magearna - Easy To Get Wi🍒th Money

Magearna with American QR Code

Magearna is one of the easiest mythicals to obtain due to its distribution method. All you need to do is scan a QR code, which is provided in the image above, and become Champion in Pokemon Sun, Moon, UltraSun, or UltraMoon. Go to the mall in Hau'oli City and speak with the delivery man at the Antiquities of the Ages stall.

Magearna can only be redeemed once per save so get ready to🅷 grind if you want more of them.

1 Meltan - Let's Go!

Meltan

Meltan is only available in Pokemon Go and Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. To capture Meltan, you must transfer a Pokemon from Go into the Go Park in Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee or complete the Let’s Go, Meltan quest in Pokemon Go. Transfering any Pokemon from Go in the Go Park gives you a Mystery Box that allows you to capture as many Meltan as possible for 30 minutes each week.

Like every other Special Research ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚQuest, the Meltan quest can take a lot of time.
