Toshihiro Nagoshi and Daisuke Sato, who have been with t❀he studio for 22 and nine years respectively, have confirmed they will both be leaving Sega.

It seems that the rumors Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi woul🐟d be leaving Sega after 22 years were true. The Yakuza creator has now confirmed that his time with the studio is coming to an end. Nagoshi will also be leaving his role with RGG S🌟tudio along with its head Daisuke Sato who has filled the role for almost a decade.

“As of today, a new Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is born where the series will live on. Though I don’t know for sure what they will create, I believe the new generation will further enhance the foundation we built over the years,” Nagoshi writes. Although Nagoshi doesn't know what the studio will do next, it was confirmed at the same time that work has begun on a sequel to Yakuza: Like A Dragon.

The new director of RGG Studio Masayoshi Yokoyama confirmed that Like A Dragon will be getting a sequel while praisi🍰ng those he has replaced. “Ryu Ga Gotoku’s predecessors have passed down their beliefs and know-how to each and every staff member,” Yokoyama wrote. “You can witness it in the recently released Lost Judgment and will see it in the upcoming sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon.”

Nagoshi joined Sega in 1989 as the studio was first taking what would be a very successful plunge into the console world. It would be more than a decade before he helped set up RGG and begin work on the Yakuza series. During that time, Nagoshi worked on other iconic Sega series such as Virtua Racing and Super Monkey Ball, another game that will continue on even though he has departed Sega🧔.

As hinted at above, Nagoshi's Sega departure has been on the cards for a while.
