EA Games is giving back control of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Need for Speed series to Criterion Games. Mostly known for its work on the Burnout series, Criterion handled the development of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted on last-generation consoles. It then transitioned into a role as♔ a support studio for Ghost Games when it started creating new entries.
Seemingly because of the relative failure of last year's Need for Speed: Heat, EA has decided to go back to the drawing board with this series. "With a strong history and passion for racing games and vision for what we can create, the Criterion team is going to take Need for Speed into the next-generation," EA told GamesIndustr𝕴y.biz.
As for what will happen to Ghost Games, the company is being dissol༒ved into EA Gothenburg (which was ൲the original name of the studio). EA is looking to transfer many of the employees of Ghost to Criterion and other teams that will suit their specific talents. "The engineering expertise in our Gothenburg team, some of whom are architects of the Frostbite engine, is vital to a number of our ongoing projects, and they would remain in that location," EA stated.
EA doesn't seem to be bearing any ill will towards Ghost Games. While Need for Speed: Payback was a disaster and Heat failed to take off, the company was able to produce Rivals and a self-titled entry in the seꦐries that were well received. The company clea💮rly knows how to make racing games, but just fell under hard times as the industry changed priorities.
"Ghost Games have helped to bring some great Need for Speed experiences to our players," EA stated. "Despite our best efforts to establish an independent development group in Gothenburg over several years, it's become clear that the breadth of talent we need to maintain a full AAA studio is just ಞnot available to us there."
As for what's next, EA isn't ready to talk just yet. Need for Speed games were nev🔥er really a yearly franchise, so it's unlikely that some brand new instal꧒lment is in the works. Whatever does come, Criterion will be at the helm. That's good news for fans.
