It’s time to go into full throttle and race to the finish once again, as Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered makes its way to consoles. Originally releasing on the PS3 and Xbox 360, this iteration of the incredibly successful and long-running arcade racing series was a fan favorite for its tight and thrilling gameplay, its duality of rac✤e🍸r/police gameplay, and its nail-biting high score competitions with friends.
Before old players come back to spinning their tires and new players find a new favorite arcade racer, it’s important to know what exactly this remaster brings to the table. As remasters✅ run rampant in the video game world, it’s important for gamers to be able to feel like their purchase is justified for a re-released older title. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is an incredible game, but what does this new release bring players in the modern day of consoles?
10 🌊 A Remaster Of A Remake Of A Sub-Series
Don’t be confꦯused: Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is not a remaster of the 1998 game Need For Speed 3: Pursuit (or it’s sequel Hot Pursuit 2,𝓰 which technically makes it a sequel to the third NFS game); it is a remaster of the 2010 game Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, which is a remake (in name only) of the Hot Pursuit series. Confused yet? It’s understandable. At this point, the Hot Pursuit series has been through over two decades of sequels and remakes and remasters, but for good reason.
9 Autolog Is Back 🍨
One of the best features of Need For Speed Hot Pursuit was the constantly updating Autolog system that recorded every player’s best times on each race, and would pla🦩ce your time on a leaderboard that compared to your friends’ times, and would post on your friends’ walls to add insult to injury and let your friends know that your time was the best around. Thankfully this feature is back in full force, and players can go back to losing sleep at the thought of their high scores being beaten.
8 💯 🌌 Cross-Platform Support
Cross-platform support is a feature in this remaster that is an absolutely welcome one. At the time of Need For Speeꦬd Hot Pursuit’s original release, playing multiplayer games between Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo consoles was a far-off dream, but in 2020, it is a fully realized reality. Racers from all consoles can finally compete in races together, and while the game didn’t immediately launch with this feature, it wa🌺s updated to include it for wondrous results.
7 🐼 Contents Of The Remaster
As is usual f🌃are with remasters, Need For Speed Hot P🦩ursuit Remastered includes every single piece of DLC for no extra price. This includes every awesome vehicle in the game, and every course available to race.
Thankfully this is the ca𒁃se, because if players had to pay for 10 year old DLC, there would be a huge problem. The game has a fantastiജc amount of content for its price, and with its incredibly fun and addictive gameplay, it’s a total joy that will keep you coming back for more.
6 What Is A Racing G♏a🦋me Without Its Soundtrack?
There is no greater blunder than a racing game with a bad soundtrack. Thankfully, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit had a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:fantastic all-around soundtrack that was brought back in its entirety for the remaster. 30 Seconds To Mars, Weezer, Bad Religion, M.I.A., Lupe Fiasco, DeadMau5, and many more artists created a pulse-pounding atmosphere to this𒈔ಞ blistering fast game. All of the licenses were able to renewed, on top of a fantastic orchestral score by Marios Takoushis and Vanesa Lorena.
5 ෴ Multiplayer Matchmaking
The general multiplayer functions incredibly well, even during crossplay. Playing with friends or strangers virtually never suffers from slowdown or glitches. However, the lobbying system could use some wor💮k. The biggest complaint across the board is the fact that you can create a lobby with a friend to make it public, but almost every time you won’t be able to have a full lobby with strangers until a few races in. If you then try to join a full lobby, you can’t lobby up with your friend and bring both of you into a lobby at once; you instead have to join solo and invite them when you enter, in hopes that the lobby won’t fill up. It’s an annoying setup, and the game should include a way to bring multiple people into a packed lobby at once.
4 🌊 A Visual Improvement ꦉ
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit’s visuals still hold up incredibly well to this day, and the remaster improves them a lit🎐tle bit more for modern 4K consoles. This remaster improves the vehicle models, draw distances are improved, and is locked at a steady 30 frames per second on consoles at 1080p that looks gorgeous being displayed with a 4K television.
While not the greatest leap in visuals that a remaster has seen, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered was a gorgeous game 𒅌and that still hasn’t changed on modern consoles.
3 Identical Gameplay 🍷
Fans of the original 2010 title will be pleased to know that the gameplay is virtually unchanged. In technical terms, the game is flawless: every car runs similarly and yet differently, the drifting is seamless and fast, and the collisions are impactful and satisfying. With this remaster, perfection was not tampered with and for the best. For players who are just coming off of the latest NFS Heat, they may find 💙it to be a jarring transition as the two games play completely differently from one another.
2 A Little Too Faithꦆful To The ꦜOriginal
As great as the game itself is, this is a remaster in the simplest of terms. Aside from adding the DLC in for free and slightly improving the visuals, there isn’t much at all to entice old players to come back, aside from revisiting the preserved game in the exact same way it was. No new modes or cars are added, and the game doesn’t have a dramatic difference in its looks or its identity. This isn’t a bad thing by any means because the original game is so good, but it’s important to know that this game exists to bring the game to newer consoles with not muꦆch else to say. Thankfully the game was released at a lower price than AAA titles, which makes it sting a little less.
1 ♓ ﷽ The Future Of Need For Speed
Need For Speed titles don’t often get remastered, which is a total shame considering how fun and iconic many of the games are. It’s important to know that if Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered sells well, NFS fans may be treated even more remasters of their beloved titles. Need For Speed Most Wanted and Need For Speed Underground remasters could be around the corner if this remaster does well, and based on the player base having fun in this rem🐻aster, it is quite possible that these dreams could be a reality.
