We're just over a month away from NEO: The World Ends With You arriving on PS4 and Switch, and to get people hyped (and probably test the game's balance and features), Square Enix is hosting a free demo tomorrow starting at 1♔ PM EST (10 AM PST).

Best of all, whatever progress you make during the dem♈o can be saved so you can return to where you left off as soon as the game launches in July.

To celebrate the impending arrival of NEO, Square Enix also dropped a massive five-minute trailer today that explores pretty much all aspects of the game. It starts off pretty apocalyptically for TWEWY, but then it gets into the meat of the game--that being possessing poor schmucks in the real world, eating ramen, and battling against The Reapers. Even the Reaper Review is💖 back from the 🌠original TWEWY!

We get to see a lot of the game's mechanics in action for the first time, including a Social Netw♌ork system that appears to stand in for a standard skill tree. There are also a ton of new characters coming in NEO, but also a few returning faces that you might recognize from the DS game.

Square Enix didn't give us the full details on what to expect from the demo, but it's likely going to be the first 90 minutes of the game that our own Jade King got to experien📖ce earlier in the month. She gave us the lowdown on what to expect in NEO: TWEWY, including a jarring introduction to the setting😼 for those who haven't played the original.

You play as❀ Rindo, a typical teen glued to his smartphone who just wants to hang out with his friend Fret in the bu🔴stling neighborhood of Shibuya. But then you both die and wind up playing The Reaper's Game for your very survival. Each day is a test, and the winner gets reborn from the Underworld back to the real world.

Unlike the original DS game, this time you control four characters at once in combat, although your moves are still determined by stylish pins that you find lying around. Exploration of Shibuya and its many strange denizens is still 𓂃the name of the game as you try to find your way out of each day's test.

"If you’re a hardcore lover of all things TWEWY, this is both the follow-up you’re looking for and an unexpected diversion from the source material in terms of explorati⛎on and mechanics," wrote Jade in her preview. "But it’s got style, and for some, that will be more than enough."
