While we continue to wait for more news on the team is breathing new life into Skyrim with Black Marsh.
Beyond Skyrim is a collaborative project between several modding teams that create continent expansion mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Each mod aims to offer new quests, NPCs, weapons, armor, oddities, a unique soundtrack, and an entirely new map to explore. So far, Bruma is their only completed project, which was Future projects besides Black Marsh include Roscrea, Morrowind, and Elsweyr.
Black Marsh is the southeast-most region of Tamriel, just below Morrowind and to the east of Cyrodiil. According to Elder Scrolls lore, it's the oldest place on Nirn. From its primordial swa🧸mp came the Argonian race. Before them were the Kothringi, who are now immortal skeletons thanks to a deal with a Daedric prince.
Though we don't see any Kothringi in the trailer, we do see some concept a💎rt, part of an Argonian city, new armor, and the sort of dense, dark jungle you'd expect to find in a place called Black Marsh. One concept shows a colorful creature that looks like a cross between a prawn and a spinosaurus, while another concept illustrates a sea drake.
There's no gameplay footage yet, but based on what we've seen, we can theorize what the mod may contain. The prawn-like creatures may act as the reptilian wolves of Black Marsh, and maybe the sea drakes will behave the same as dragons in Skyrim. Except instead o🅰f raining fire upon you from the sky, they may grab you by the legs and drown you in the deep. The Beyond Skyrim modders may add the Kothringi later, in which case, they could take the place of Draugr in dungeons, catacombs, and shrines.
Beyond Skyrim hasn't announced a launch date for their newest project, but we can only hope it will come out soon. Elder Scrolls fans have been longing for something new to hold them over until Elder Scrolls VI arrives, and an entirely new 🍨continent would be plenty enough.
However, it may take a few years for Beyond Skyrim to finish and release Black Marsh. It's important to remember that Beyond Skyrim makes content entirely for the fan♛s, at no cost to them. The long wait will suck, but the team is free t🍒o spend as much time as they need to make something they can be proud of.
