A listing on Nintendo's Japanese site appears to have revealed a new Kirby game ahead of today's Direct, not to mention a hint that Bayonetta 3 will also be featured.
Nintendo doesn't tend to announce things until those things are basically about to happen. Look no further than the announcement of Super Mario 3D All-Stars last week, and also today's Nintendo Direct. Today's Direct wasn't announced until yesterday, yet it will take place lat🐲er today at 6 pm EST and last for about 40 minutes.
It would appear that one or two of Nintendo's cats have been let out of the bag a little early via listings on its Japanese site. Most notably, the reveal of a brand new Kirby game. While it's unclear what the game will be called in the west, a rough translation of its Japanese title dubs it Kirby: Discovery of the Stars for the next few hours at least.
Not much else can be gleaned from the listing other than a hint at the backdrop for the game and that it will launch on Nintendo Switch in Spring 2022. The other game people's eyes have been drawn to in the same screenshot detailing the new Kirby game is a listing hinting at more news on Bayonetta 3. We are closing in on the fourth anniversary of Bayonetta 3's announcement, and fans of the series are hopeful it will take center stage during the build to every Direct.
It seems that this time, Bayonetta fans will not be left disappointed. The Bayonetta sequel was previously listed as TBC when it comes to a release date. However, it's listing on the Japanese Nintendo site now has it as launching in 2022. An odd change to make considering there's a Direct tonight and there has been very little mention of the game or where it's at. Some even feared that the game might never happen.
Speculation is always rife during the build to a Nintendo Direct. However, Nintendo rarely slips up and actually shows its hand before the presentation begins.
