The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was first released on the Game Boy in June of 1993, becoming the first game in the series to make its way to a handheld console. The game received high praise from consumers and critics and helped to raise sales of the Game Boy by 13 percent, while also after its initial release. Thanks to the game's immense popularity, Nintendo would release the first remaster of the game, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, for the Game Boy Color in 1998. With its release came an upgraded color pallet and several new additions to the game including , photographer side quest, and new chest items. The first remaster would go on to sell very well, by the end of December 2003. Now, due to the rise in popularity of remakes, Nintendo decided to remake The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Switch and we get an in-depth look at the game thanks to some Gamescom f𝔍ootage.

Given t🍒he popularity of the game, Nintendo's decision to go ahead with a r𒆙emake is certainly a smart move. If the game sells well in the current market it could lead the company to create remakes of the other games within the franchise in the future.

Within it, we are greeted with an insanely adorable version of Link who makes his way through updated dungeons and a world that has been graphically enhanced to fit with modern consoles. Not only have the graphics been updated, but Nintendo staff point out during the video that players will no longer have to switch between Link's abilities as they did in the Game Boy version. Additionally, you have the option of revisiting bosses within the game and trying out your new abilities against them. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening will become available on the Nintendo Switch on September 20th.

Remastering a game is difficult enough, but Nintendo has taken things a step further by adding new features and abilities🅰 to the game. It's clear from this Gamescom footage that the staff are passionate about the game and believe in the quality of their product, which is a very good thing for consumers.

While the remaster should have been released a long time ago, releasi💫ng it for the Switch could pay dividends for the company as it will allow older consumers to still have the feel of playing on the Game Boy. Hopefully, the game has a great amount of success and in turn, causes Nintendo to focus more on remakes.
