Monster Hunter: Riders will be free on the app store in Japan on the 29th, but there's no word when we'll get an English localization. This is the se♚cond mobile title launched by Capco💜m in two years, and will feature an anime style with monsters seen from the Monster Hunter series.

For those unfamiliar with Monster Hunter, it's basically a nonstop feedback loop of going out, killing monsters, taking their parts, and crafting new weapons and armor. Sometimes the horn or claw for a new weapon takes ages to drop, making it a grind and a half, but it's an enjoyable one given how refined the comba𓆏t is.

The first mobile title Capcom released, Monster Hunter: Stories was a turn-based RPG title that allowed users to pay once for the full experience, unlike most free-to-play titles that use microtransactions as an incentive to move forward more quickly. It's more than likely Monster Hunter: Riders will take on a freemium approach given the screenshot below that contains gift notifications — free-to-play titles general𓃲ly send off goodies to keep players coming back (and there's what looks to be a🍎n energy meter as well as some premium currency in the picture as well).

The title is looking similar to the 3DS spinoff of Monster Hunter Stories, but as of now there's no news what the gameplay will be like.  A proper Monster Hunter title on mobile could be held afloat by collaborations alone, as Geralt from The Witcher series just  as DLC. There's nothing stopping any game company with a pulse from investing and sending their own monsters to the title for limited-time equipment for players to farm, and a true monster hunter experience on the go might be just what the doctor orde♍red.
