There are only three certainties in life: death, taxes, and the inevitable return of Neptunia every console cycle. That's right, folks♎ - ol' N🔴ep's coming to PlayStation 5.
Compile Heart uploaded a trailer announcing the news to their YouTube channel. Not much is known about the game, but we do know the full title is Go! Go! 5 Jiden Game Neptune re★Verse. The developer promised more news on th෴e game in the near 🐎future - in September, specifically. It's easy to assume that's when we'll get a real trailer, with our first look at the game's shiny next-gen aesthetics and a potential release window.
But that's not all. Compile Heart has also promised other new projects in the series, without🦄 specifying exactly what those projects will look like. Multi-plat spinoffs? New tie-in media? We're not entirely sure yet, but there's a good chance we'll hear more about that in September, too.
For the unindoctrinated, the Neptunia franchise revolves around a cast of girls themed after different gaming consoles. Taking place in the mystical land of Gamindustri, the titles follow a scrappy gang of anime lasses as they explore a wild world of niche gaming jokes. Most of the games are traditional JRPGs, but there also weird spin-offs like an idolꦯ management sim and a cool side-scrolling entry.
Whatever the future brings for the Neptunia franchise, it's exciting to see niche, otaku-oriented games like this already announcing their next-gen plans. Usually, anime fans have to wait a bit until they can get their fix on a new console, so we hope this sets a precedent for what we'll see𒁏 in th🎀e early days of the console.
