The new PS5 model has been revealed, completely replacing the chunky launch models on the market right now. The🍸 new PS5 will come both with and without a disc drive, although digital PS5 players will now be able to pick a drive up separately, in case they change their minds.

This is the first major console to release with a digital version that can be upgraded to use discs separately, as the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xbox Series S currently doesn't offer this service. However, the optional Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive will be priced at $79.99 USD/£99.99 GBP, so it's an expensive commitment should you wish to leave your digital-only experience behind.

"To address the evolving needs of players, our engineering and design teams collaborated on a new form factor that provides greater choice and flexibility," reads the announcement from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation. "The new PS5 has been reduced in volume by more than 30 percent, and weight by 1ꦇ8 percent and 🧔24 percent compared to the previous models."

The new PS5s will hit the US market this November, but it's not clear when we can expect to find them in other regions. As it launches, Sony wants to get thro🌼ugh its current stock, since the slim mod🍸el will completely replace it in the coming months.

As per the PlayStation website, here are all the🍸 details on how the models will be priced in different regions.

  • U.S.
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 499.99 USD
    • PS5 Digital Edition – 449.99 USD
  • Europe
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 549.99 EUR
    • PS5 Digital Edition – 449.99 EUR
  • U.K.
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 479.99 GBP
    • PS5 Digital Edition – 389.99 GBP
  • Japan
    • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 66,980 JPY (includes tax)
    • PS5 Digital Edition – 59,980 JPY (includes tax)

The new model will only include a horizontal stand, with the vertical stand seen in the promotional image available separately for a pricey $29.99/£25.99. Hopefully, the smaller size means it'll take up less shelf space this time around.

It remains to be seen if Xbox has its own slimmer model in the works, considering the Series X is also a notoriously bulky console. There's been no word on a disc drive for the Series S either, although that is also a weaker console than the Series X, so that wouldn't be enough for it to reach the same performance as its bulkier counterpart.
