The people who are curious about the World of Darkness franchise and the Vampire: The Masquerade world can now be introduced ꩲto the setting through a new video on the World of Darkness YouTꦑube channel.

Vampire: The Masquerade suffers at the elevator pitch stage in comparison to games like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. It's easy to introduce people who are interested in tabletop games to fantasy stories with set goals (slaying dragons, finding lost treasure), but Vampire: The Masquerade is a different type of game. It's more about personal horror and dealing with the double threat o𓃲f an addiction to human blood and a very real dark side that can take over the player in a moment of weakness.

The people who want to play Vampire: The Masquerade but are unsure of where to start can now be introduced to the setting in a new video on the World of Darkness YouTube channel. A vampire played by Josephine McAdam (who plays Eva the Tremere witch in L.A. By Night) explains the basics o♔f the game and its setting.

The intro explains the necessities of vampiric existence, such as needing to hunt for blood, making allies, and evading enemies like the Second Inquisition. Vampires might have some nasty weaknesses (like sunlight and fire) and pretty much every other supernatural race is out to get them, but they aren't defenseless, as they can call upon the powers of their clan founders (known as Disciplines) to perform superhuman feats. There is a reason why vampires have stayed hidden until the modern nights and it's due to the Masquerade, which is the rule that all undead must follow. All vampires must uphold the lie that the undead aren't real and doing otherwise will result in a swift execution at the hands of elder Kindred who want to maintain the status quo. Vampire: The Masquerade players must forever walk the tightrope ꦯof possessing incredible supernatural abilities, yet being careful about how they use them, for fear of exposing the secret of their existence to the world.

Tabletop gaming has seen newfound success in recent years, thanks to social media and streaming shows making it easier than ever than to learn about games like Dungeons & Dragons and Vampire: The Masquerade. The release of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is on the horizon and there has never been a better time to learn about the Wo𒅌rld of Darkness.
