It's official - the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dark and Darker legal drama is extending into the US. Weeks after the feud went public, Korean game publisher Nexon is suing Ironmace over copyright infringement. Nexon is demanding a jury trial, and has amassed a team of lawyers to take on Ironm♏ace, as well as two of its higher-ups are named individually in the 🍸lawsuit.
This comes just as Ironmace relea🌠ses a playtest f🔴or Dark and Darker via a torrent, having been 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:booted off Steam over Nexon's initial complaints of copyright infringement. Ironmace is yet to publicly respond to this latest move, but it doesn't seem to have deterred the developer from continuing with Dark and Darker's open beta.
In , Nexon isn't just trying to ensure Dark and Darker halts development and public distribution, but is also calling for monetary damages from Ironmace for the alleged copyright infringement. The amount the company is asking for would make up for the money it says it lost while developing its own game, codenamed P3, which it claims Ironmace stole from to make Dark and Darker.
All of the 𝕴pages in the lawsuit have been accessed by Onepeg, a YouTuber who has been following Dark and Darker closely.
"Condoning the Defendants' conduct would threaten Nexon, the video game industry, and all of the consumers who enjoy playing sophisticated video games," reads the lawsuit. "Video game developers would not be able to invest years' worth of person-hours in developing video games if their employees could simply transfer their employer's project files to their own personal servers and start a new company."
The two Ironmace employees named in the lawsuit directly, Ju-Hyun Choi and Terence Seungha Park, are former Nexon employees. Nexon says this is how they got their hands on its source code and other assets, which they then allegedly used in Dark and Darker. On top of this, it's claimed that Choi was trying to convince other Nexon employees to leave and join Ironmace while he worked with the publisher.
There's a lot more to the lawsuit, and we haven't even gotten into the claim that the Dark and Darker devs allegedly signed a one-year non-compete contract when they were at Nexon. Yet it's unclear how Ironmace will respond. Even as news of the lawsuit circulates in the fanbase and in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Dark and Darker Discord server, the defendants haven't responded to this development publicly. Although it's very possible that this is under the guidance of their own legal counsel. It remains to be seen if it gets far enough for Nexon to get the jury trial it's demanding.
