Nexus Mods, a popular gaming modification site that lets users upload and download mods for computer games, has banned all mods related to “sociopolitical issues in the United States” until after the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:presidential inauguration in January.
Founder Robin Scott said he had seen “a spate of provocative and troll mods” designed to provoke users, therefore, the site will remove any 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:political mods uploaded o🧔n or after September 28, adding that the site’s administrators “have neither the ti𝐆me, the care or the wish to moderate” them.
Scott noted🧸 that many of the mods were “low quality” and expressed “polarizing views,” inciting a small group of users to engage in “name-calling and baseless accusations.” He said the site will reconsider its policy “after the next President of the United States has bee🍃n inaugurated,” though he did not specify a date.
Nexus Mods is especially popular with fans of Fallout and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls. Among other things, the site allows users to download rebalanced game mechanics and extra content for characters. One of the recent politicꦍal mods criticized was an anti-antifascist Fallout 4 mod that included a photo of a Kenosha shooting victim. The mod was intended to rename the game’s raꦬider enemies as “antifa.” Other mods were related to Black Lives Matter and other social movements.
During the current presidential campaign, some social networks have started to moderate content in an effort to protect freedom of speech, while simultaneously flagging false or misleading ๊information. In Nexus Mods’ case, some users seemed to be antagonizing others with incendiary content.
“To be blunt, we do not care how this looks nor do we care if you think the mods we༺ do or don’t moderate reflect on us, our political beliefs or what we do and don’t want on our site,” Scott said.
Nexus Mods was founded in August 2001 as a fan site for the Bethesda 𓆉Softworks game The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind under the name of Morrowind Chronicles. As of October 2020, the site su🧸pports 1,078 games and features a single forum and a wiki for site and mod-related topics.
