While this certainly allows for a fresh start, it comes at the loss of nostalgia for players who looked forward to familiar faces.

Since the new primary protagonist of the story is literally a royal of the magical world Oliver once traveled to from his own humble Motorville, the world-hopping mechanic is completely gone. Gone are the days where the player needs to concern themselves with striking a balance betwee🌠n multiple iterations of the same character across the magical and mundane. Earth is still featured in the story, but the player sees it only through cutscenes. Of all the many changes Revenant Kingdom features, this one feels the most organically grown to match the new story angle.

8 The Combat Is C🌠ompletely Different

Possibly the most abrupt change is the total overhaul of the combat system. In Wrath of the White Witch, the player dealt with a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:mixture 🌳of turn-based and real-time combat that left some reviewers with loud, less than favorable opinions. Aesthetically, they're far less diverse than Familiars, as well, as they all look like they were created from the same base design.

Gre🍸at news for fans of Civilization and Tycoon-likes, once a certain point in the plot is reached, the player is given the reins to grow their kingdom through their very own city building mechanic. There is no similar fun🌳ctionality in Wrath of the White Witch, so this is an entirely new branch for Level-5.

Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum is tasked with fleshing out an entire kingdom from scratch by creating and maintaining armories and Higgleries (a Higgledy storage facility) and general stores and, most importantly, the kingdom's coffers. Every upgrade means more work, but also means more abilities for the player to wield.

5 Recruit Citizens To Increase The Roster 🔜

It is also the new duty of the player to populate their created kingdom with citizens. There's precious little that works in the kingdom without assigning a citizen to it. The caveat is that citizens can't just be thrown into a position and be expected to do it correctly.

No, each citizen has a set of skills, and it is the task of the player to ensure that each NPC is being used as economically as possible by keeping an eye on what they can specifically do. Citizens are "collected" by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:completing side quests. There are 162 to bring into the fold in total.

4 ꧅ The Overworld Sports A Chibi Sty꧋le Now

A smaller, but no less noticeable, change is to the overworld avatars. In Wrath of the White Witch, Oliver roamed the hub world looking like Oliver. His avatar was exactly the same as in cutscenes and battles, just a little smaller to compensate for the sheer enormity of the magical world he was in. In Revenant Kingdom, however, Evan and company appear as simplified chibi models when they traverse the overworld. It's aesthetically pleasing, certainly, but feels like a step backward from the first game.

3 Tainted Monsters Roam T🌼he Lands 𒁃

Much like the first entry in the series, the overworld is crawling with monsters that are ready to attack at a moment's notice. Tainted Monsters are a slight twist on the original, where larger, more powerful versions of the standard monsters also roam the lands, acting essentially as free-roaming minibosses.

These creatures are optional challenges, so they're easily discernible by their ominous purple aura. For the completionists, there are sixty Tainted Monsters to defeat, with the final ten appearing when the first fifty are destroyed.

Another entirely new feature, once the fourth chapter of the story is reached, the player gains access to Dreamer Doors, a series of randomized dungeons with an incre♏ased difficulty level and a myriad of possible mechanics to cope with. There are treasures and trophies attached to completing these, however, much like collecting all the citizens and defeating all the Taint📖ed Monsters, these dungeons are completely optional, but reward the player well for completing all ten (the last becomes available after completing the first nine).

1 ✨ Take On Armies In Skirmishes

Right after the player is introduced to building Evermore, Level-5 introduces another massive change in the addition of Skirmishes. Skirmishes are strategy-based encounters where the player guides an army in real-time to defeat potential invaders. Like everything else in Ni No Kuni, Skirmishes are informationally dense, with several factors to parse through, but essentially boil down to deciding where the available forces should go, and what Evan should do while they're under attack. The ability of the player's troops is directly linked to how well built and maintained the barracks in Evermore are.
