Fast travel isn't available from the start of the game, so you'll have to play through a bit before you have the option to teleport around the map. Let's take a look at how to unlock fast travel.
How To Fast Travel
Fast traveling is incredibly useful in Nier Automata. From returning to specific areas to complete side quests, or simply to get around the map quicker, you'll be fast traveling quite a bit. Fast traveling doesn't cost anything, making it a much faster way for moving around, granted you've already been to the place you're trying to move to.
Before you unlock fast traveling, you only have the option to Transport between the Resistance Camp Access Point and the Bunker's Access Point. While useful for getting between those two places, you don't really need to return to the Bunker that often.
Unlocking Fast Travel
Unlocking fast travel will take a bit of time; it is not unlocked by default at the beginning of the game. Instead, you will need to play through Chapter Five. During this chapter, ꦍyou will eventually head underneꦇath the City Ruins and defeat a boss.
After doing so, head back up through the cavern and you will find Jackass standing next to an Access Point. Talking to her will reveal that you can use the Transporter on the Access Points now, allowing you to quickly travel between previou🍎sly discovered locations.
Fast Traveling
To fast travel, head to the nearest Access Point. From there, select the Transport option, which will open a list of all unlocked Access Points. Each Access Point is listed as first the region it's in, then a more specific indicator of where that Access Point is. Select which one you'd like to travel to, and you will be teleported there.
Note that you can only fast travel to Access Points that you have previously physically visited, so fast traveling can only be used to travel back to places you've already been. Still, fast traveling is essential for heading back to certain areas to complete side quests or find weapons.
