Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said the supply of semiconductors had not shown significaꦰnt improvement, which is why the company had revised its production target to 24 million units, in an earnings briefing.

However, game sales, which account for higher profit margins than for sales of co💙nsoles, had unaffected. He added that promotion of new and evergreen games would continue in order to "maintain the momentum of the Nintendo Switch business".

Meanwhile, we gained more insight into how the Kyoto-headquartered company was adapting to the computer chip supply issue. Nintendo director and senior executive officer Ko Shiota explained that engineers are "reviewing" the haℱrdware design of the Swi꧑tch and exploring sourcing "alternative components" in an attempt to beat supply chain issues.

Legendary Nintendo honcho Shigeru Miyamoto also commented on the issue: "With so many consumers worldwide having already bought a Nintendo Switch, the situation has not had any major effects on software development," the Mario creator said. The Nintendo Switch has posted impressive sales figures, with the latest numbers showing nearly 93 million Nintendo Switches have🎉 been sold, which is less than nine million consoles shy of the Wii's lifetime sales.

During the briefing, Furukawa also commented on how the company se♔es the future of the Switch and what is coming next. The Nintendo president said the Switch is only at the "mid-point" of its lifecycle, suggesting we have another few years to go with the portable console before we see a successor.

"With regards to the next 🦩game system, we are considering many different things, but as far as the concept🍰 and launch timing are concerned, there is nothing we can share at this time," Furukawa said.
