"Put [the April 2 tariff announcement] aside. Any previous tariffs were not factored i🅰nto the price itself," Bowser explains. "The news is fresh, and like many companies right now, we are actively assessing what the impact may be."

Bowser then explains why Nintendo is charging so mu🍸ch more this time ar🦄ound, and simply put, it's because the company feels that the Switch 2 has more to offer. Some of the features named as reasons for the price hike include the improved joy-cons, LCD screen, and the GameChat feature.

"We want to make sure that this is a device that is approachable, that consumers will see as ♌part of their overall entertainment experiences and will understand that it has longevity to it," he continues. "And all of those factors really go into the consideration of the price."

Of course, we've already seen that Nintendo didn't premptively deploy its plan to weather out the tariffs.
