Throughout the early noughties, the Gamecube's legacy could not be understated, and it brought us some of the finest in cooperative gaming to ever hit a Nintendo console. Before this many Nintendo games relied on competitive battling, seeing friends and family having to face each other rather than 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:work collectiv🍸ely towards a shared goal, an industry-standard the Gamecube 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:saw fit to change.
Over the years, many of the best co-op Gamecube games have seen shiny new re-releases and sequel games, where others have seen fit to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:remain locked to the p꧅urple box for good...or are they? Here are some of the best Gamecube co-op games we'd love to see have a come back onto modern consoles, whether it be through a brand new sequel or shiny HD remake.
Updated on October 21, 2021, by Stephen Morin: The success of the Nintendo Switch has given players a lot of hope that the Gamecube would see some re-releases, especially with how well the Wii U re-releases have sold. The GameCube was a great multiplayer console, and many of its games would feel right at home on a console like the Switch, especially since some key series such as F-Zero are totally absent. This list has been updated with new entries and some minor changes in order to keep it up to date.
14 💫 Mario Party 4-7
The GameCube was really the final hurrah for classic Mario Party, but they do blend together, and there isn't much innovation outside of Mario Party 6's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:day and night system. Despite this, the Nintendo Switch was graced with a title that paid homage to the N64 entries, and it would still be nice ܫto see the GameCube games better represented since they were contained great mini-games and remain some of the best Gamecube co-op games.
Even if the GameCube Mario Party games were not all that ingenious, there wasn't a bad entry among them, and many fans loved them simply because of the Gamecube gamepad, which was more accommodating than the N64 controller.
13 ♋ 🔯 Kirby Air Ride
Kirby Air Ride is a case of so much potential, yet so much of it is not used. The core game is fantas🦂tic. There are two racing modes and a battle mode with classic Kirby vehicles and items that all do different things. Many Kirby fans will find themselves having fun in short bursts. However, everything is controlled wit꧋h just the joystick and one button, which makes for a lot of incorrect inputs and frustrating controls.
With the success of the Mario Kart franchise, it's easy to see why Nintendo is content leaving Kirby Air Ride in the past, but with some fixed up controls and modern implements, a second life could be breathed into this game that just didn't quite live up to expectations on the Gamecube.
12 Tak: The Great Ju🅘ju Challenge
Although you'd be right in thinking Nickolodeon's Tak: The Great Juju Challenge is an odd choice, the game actually 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:saw favourable reviews for its unique platforming style, time-based mechanics, 🍰and two-player split-screen story mode - a real novelty for the time.
Playing as Tak and Lok, you enter The Great Juju Challenge to battle it out against three opposing teams; taking part in a variety of fun minigames and races. Its pocket of nostalgic fans still hopes that one day this Nickolodeon relic could make a comeback to screens, but for now, it still seems doomed to remain stucౠk to its host of mid-2000 era consoles for good.
11 Pikmin 2
Pikmin has always flown very much under the radar, despite having a cult fanbase that ranks the series as one of Nintendo's very best. Pikmin 2 was a big upgrade over the original game, especially since it eliminated the time limit. Additionally, Pikmin 2 is a rare case of an adventure game on a console that is better with two players. Playing with someone else makes it easier to solve puzzles and store different coloured Pikmin, which come with different strengths and weaknesses.
While Pikmin 3 did get a release on the Wii U, it's unfortunate that it hasn't been released on a console with a wider appeal, like the Nintendo Switch. The release of Pikmin 3 gave fans hope for other Pikmin games to arrive on the hybrid console, but that is looking increasingly unlikely with the passing of time, and that is a shame because Pikmin 2 is an excellent entry in the series.
10 Gauntlet 🔜Dark Legacy
Originally released to arcades back in the '90s, Dark Legacy was a dark RPG adventure that starred four players as a rag-tag adventurer party tasked with re-imprisoning the great demon Skorne and freeing the world of his dark control - just like always.
Despite being one of the best multiplayer Gamecube games for retro gamers, Gauntlet Dark Legacy has remained trapped in the past due to its dated arcade appearance and its inability to compete with other four-player titles at the time of its release. Because of this, it seems unlikely we'll ever see a re-release or remake, but we can always hope, right?
9 🉐 00☂7: Everything Or Nothing
The perfect Bond game for those looking to co-operate rather than behead one another with Oddjob's hat, 007: Everything Or Nothing cemented its title as the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:bestselling Bond since the noughties and with good reason.
Changing the winning first-person perspective of Goldeneye for a brand new third-person shooter, Everything or Nothing had Bond doing things he'd never done in a video game before; such as rappelling, using new spy gadgets like the Q-Spider, and, of course, taking part in missions with a friend in an all-new cooperative split-screen mode.
8 𝐆 Soul Calibur 2
Soul Calibur 2 is arguably the very best Soul Calibur game ever made, and it is a pinnacle of the fighting genre as a whole. The Soul Calibur series is no stranger to bringing in special guest characters, but w♌hat made this such a unique entry was that the Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2 versions each came with a bonus character tailor-made for that console. The Ga🅰mecube version received Link from The Legend of Zelda series.
While Soul Calibur has never really done tag team battles, there is a Team Battle Mode. Players would pick a team of fighters and fight through a series of matches. Players could team up and work together to win as many battles as possible. Even without having a co-op mode, strictly speaking, it was such a polished fighting ga꧑me that was released in a time when local-multipl🌠ayer was king, and many
siblings and fri♋ends spent countless hours playing together.
7 Donkey Konga ꧑
Although 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Donkey Kong 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:saw some flops on the platform, this bongo bashing game sure wasn't one of them.
Revered as an 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:underrated classic of the Gamecube era, Donkey Konga ඣhad 4 games all centred around gꩲrabbing a friend and a Bongo and bashing out some hit tunes together.
Today's fans haven't let those Bongos go to waste either, using them to take on the bosses of Dark Souls 3, and even 168꧋澳洲幸运5开奖网:other players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare all by busting out a jam. Banana Slamma!
6 🌟 Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike
The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Rogue Squadron trilogy are some of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:highest-ranked Star Wars games around, with the first releasing on the N64 and PC back in 19🍨98 and the second and third🌼 seeing an exclusive release to the Gamecube.
The third and final game Rebel Strike is still fondly remembered today for its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:cutting-edge graphics, range of vehicular and on-foot missions, and, of course, its incredible two-player, split-screen mode. This allowed players to go back to the story mode of Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rebel Leader and work together on the missions with a friend, and quickly became one of the game's major selling points and best-loved features.
5 🍷 Timesplitters: Future Perfect
Future Perfect was the third game to be released in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Time Splitters series, and unfortunately, the last to ever be released before Free Radical's dip into administration. Nevertheless, Timesplitters still remains one of the best-loved 3D co-operative first-person shooters to ever hit home consoles, and with good reason.
Following the story of Timesplitters looking to destroy humanity, this 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:time-travelling masterpiece is played through worlds and levels rather than one whole story and is well remembered for poking fun at the action movies and other games of the early noughties. However age-old fans can now rejoice, as sources show 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Free Radical have reformed with the sole purpose of bringing the game back to life, but whether this is through a new sequel or HD remaster remains to 𝐆be seen.
