While 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Microsoft and Sony are buying up studios left and right to expand Xbox and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation, Nintendo isn't interested. Acquisitions aren't out of the question, but it isn't seeking to compete with the other two console publishers.
"Our brand was built upon products crafted with dedication by our employees, and having a large number of people who don't possess Nintendo DNA in our group would not be a plus to the company," Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa stated.
It isn't too surprising considering that Nintendo doesn't even own Game Freak, the developer behind Pokemon. However, it does have the controlling share of the Pokemon Company and the rights to Pokemon's IP. If acquisitions were to happen, it's likely they would be done in-house with studios Nintendo has worked closely with, not unlike Sony's strategy evident by its purchasing of Bluepoint, Insomniac, and Naughty Dog. But it did branch out similarly to Microsoft with its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:recent Bungie acquisition.
As much can be seen with Nintendo's recent acquisition of Luigi's Mansion 3 developer Next Level Games, pointing again to what its future approach to acquisitions will look like. It's not in the habit of purchasing bigger studios like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bethesda with its own library𓆉 of beloved IPs or 168澳洲ꦕ幸运5开奖网:colossal publishers such as Activision Blizzard.
But Furukawa did talk about Nintendo's future, particularly in regard to the Switch. He stressed that it's only in the middle of its lifecycle due to how well it's performing, meaning we won't see a new Nintendo console for some time now.
"Switch is just in the middle of its lifecycle and the momentum going into this year is good," Furukawa added. "The Switch is ready to break a pattern of our past consoles t🌺hat saw momentum weakening in their sixth year on the market and grow further."
Following 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Wii U's poor sales, the Switch has propelled Nintendo back into the running, and while it won't compete with Sony and Microsoft in their buyout arms race, Nintendo does see a bright future for the Switch.
