Nintendo is well aware players want to play more than just NES titles on Switch Online. Nintendo launched its online subscription service back in September and has seen notable success; it was reported in April that Nintendo Switch Online 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:had received nearly ꦺ10 million sub🦂scribers.

Although having to pay to play online is common practice among video game companies, Nintendo was the last to implement a subscription model. Core players would, of course, subscribe to play competitive titles such as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and , but Nintendo knew there needed to be a bigger value to subscribing. Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription service grants players free games every month. For Nintendo, the company offers an ongoing library of NES titles. Super Mario Bros. The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and more become available upon subscribing. While containing a large library, many are wondering when SNES games will start to be featured, along with Nintendo 64 and GameCube. There were rumors that SNES titles would be added to the 🧔service,𒁃 but this has not happened yet.

During Nintendo's 79th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, company president, Shuntaro Furukawa, was asked about re-releasing content from Nintendo 64 and GameCube. Furukawa responded (translation provided by 🗹) by saying that Nintendo is considering an extension to Nintendo Switch Online.

"At this place we cannot tell new information about future classic hardware among others, but we are thinking about providing an extension of the online service which is currently providing Famicom [NES] software, as well as other methods of providing them. We also recognize that there are opinions wanting to play past titles."

Nintendo acknowledges that there is a desire to play titles from previous consoles. Although vague, it is interesting that the words "extension" and "other methods" are used. Extending could mean Nintendo Switch Online starting to offer non-NES games. Of course, before getting to Nintendo 64, SNES titles would likely come first. None of this serves as a confirmation that SNES, Nintendo 64🌟, or GameCube titles are coming to Switch anytime soon, but something is being considered.

One of the Switch's biggest criticisms is the lack of a Virtual Console. If one only owns a Switch, there is no way to play iconic games like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, or Star Fox 64 - despite the Wii U offering these titles. Ninten🍌do knows the Switch needs to start offering a catalog into its legacy content. Will it happen in the near future? Nintendo Switch Online hits its one year anniversary in September, so that would certainly be a good tim😼e to announce an extension into SNES.
