One of the biggest questions about the Isle of Armor expansion for has been answered, as it has been revealed that enemy Pokémon will scale wiꦆth the level of the ♛player.
The previous mainline Pokémon games used to be expanded through third versions (like Pokémon Emerald for Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire) or direct sequels (like Pokémon Black 2 & White 2). Game Freak instead decided to give Pokémon Sword & Shield new content through DLC updates, which can be accessed by purchasing the Expansion Pass. Fans have been unsure of how these expansions will connect to the main game, with many assuming that the player would need to defeat Leon or finish the post-game before being able to access the Isle or Armor or The Crown Tundra DLC.
It has now been revealed how the upcoming Isle of Armor expansion will connect to Pokémon Sword & Shield. According to , the enemy Pokémon and trainers will scale to the level of the player's team. This means that the player can tackle the new areas from the DLC fro𝔍m almost any point in the game.
In order to access the new content in the Isle of Armor, the player will need to have access to the Wild Area in the Galar region, which can be accessed within the first few hours of the game. The developers expect the player to have finished the tutorial of the game before letting them access the DLC, but it can be reached at any point in the story from then on. It has also been confirmed that the player can battle teams of level 100 Pokémon in the Isle of Armor, s🥃o long as their own team has the levels to match.
The scaling levels in the Isle of Armor expansion are a breath of fresh air for the series and it could resolve one of the biggest problems that fans have had with the Pokémon franchise for a long time - difficulty. It's no secret that the mainline Pokémon games can be easily completed without putting any thought into strategy, as it's easy to accidentally outpace the enemy trainers in terms of levels. If the enemies on the Isle of Armor can match the player in terms of levels, then the DLC could make for one of the most exciting Pokémon adventures in years.
