Fans have been unsure of how these expansions will connect to the main game, with many assuming that the player would need to defeat Leon or finish the post-game before being able to access the Isle or Armor or The Crown Tundra DLC.

It has now been revealed how the upcoming Isle of Armor expansion will connect to Pokémon Sword & Shield. According to , the enemy Pokémon and trainers will scale to the level of the player's team. This means that the player can tackle the new areas from the DLC fro𝔍m almost any point in the game.

In order to access the new content in the Isle of Armor, the player will need to have access to the Wild Area in the Galar region, which can be accessed within the first few hours of the game.
