Summary

  • Nintendo's president has reconfirmed nothing has changed regarding the studio's Switch 2 reveal plans.
  • Shuntaro Furukawa noted that the plan is for Nintendo's next console to be revealed during the current fiscal year.
  • That means provided nothing changes, we'll get our first look at Nintendo's future by March 31, 2025, at the latest.

Nintendo published its latest numbers this morning and naturally the anticipation of that had some thinking its quarterly earnings call might contain news about the Switch's successor. Technically it did, but only because Nintendo president Sh꧅untaro Furukawa took the opportunity to let the world know that nothing has changed when it comes to the studio's plans for its Switch 2 reveal.

What Furukawa means by that is the Switch 2, or whatever Nintendo names its new console, is still on track to be revealed by the end of the current financial year, so by March 31, 2025, at the latest. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Furukawa noted back in May, so two ear🍷nings calls ago, that Nintendo will reveal its next console before the end of the fiscal year. Nothing has changed in the six months since then which means we are still getting a first look at the console during the first quarter of 2🐷025.

Well, technically we could hear something official about the Switch 2 even sooner than that. Furukawa continues to be purposefully vague about the Switch 2 and by the e♍nd of the fiscal year could mean a reveal with hours to go on March 31, or it could mean an unannounced trailer for the new console drops on social media this afternoon. It really could go either way, or anywhere in between, and since it's Nintendo we're talking about, nothing would surprise me.

That said, it does feel less and less li😼kely that a Switch 2 announcement will come in 2024 with e𒁃ach passing day. Nintendo still wants as many people to buy Switches as possible over the Christmas period. Confirmation of when its successor will replace it in early 2025 might lead to some holding off and waiting for whatever Nintendo has coming next.

While the Switch continues to sell (today's numbers revealed Nintendo sold 2.62 million units during the last🍷 quarter, bringing its lifetime sales up to 146.04 million), things do appear to be slowing down. So much so that during this morning's call, Nintendo confirmed that its projected total for Switches sold during the current fiscal year has dropped from 13.5 million units to 12.5 million. It has also cut its projected revenue for the year by ten percent.

It's a strange situation all around as on the one hand Nintendo hasn't officially revealed anything about its next console, but on the other, this is the second time its president has acknowledged its existence despite the lack of an official reveal. Rumors have been rife for months at this point and we might even know some of the first games that will be released on the Switch 2. It seems likely titles like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Legends Z-A and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will be on Switch 2, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a trailer for Yooka-Replaylee unsubtly hinted it will be playable on💟 the next Nintendo console.
