Ever since the first trailer for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Bros. Wonder dropped, it has felt as though Nintendo didn’t quite understand what it had. Sure, it looks like a great game with some fresh ideas and a much-needed evolution from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the stale New Super Mario Bros. era, but I’m not talking about that. I don’t mean the🐻 varied level design, the bouncy colour palette, or the hallucinogenic reinvention of each level via the Wonder Flowers. I&r🍃squo;m talking about the elephants.

In 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Wonder, the headline power is that you can turn each character into an elephant. Back when we only knew about Mario, I (along with many other🌌s) speculated that each character might be a different thing. But, given that the elephant’s trunk is used as well as its strength, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:all elephants all the time makes sense. Naturally, when I tried out theꦜ game in the summer, I immediately played as Daisy and elephantised her. However, other people were ♛even quicker on the draw.

Immediately after elephant Mario was revealed, fan art sprouted up online of Peach and Daisy all trunked out. Even Rosalina, who won’t be in Wonder, was not spared the scourge of elephantitis. It seemed like Nintendo were pointing at these characters innocently and saying ‘what a lil goofy elephant goofball!’ while the internet rubbed its sweaty, pasty hands on its knees and asked to see the lady elephants again. This division between Nintendo’s cartoonish intentions and the internet’s reaction to the designs only heightened when the next trailer showed us we could inflate Pea𝕴ch.

But in the run up to Wonder’s launch, Nintendo is finally getting with the program. In a Japanese advert for the game, we see Peach mi💛nding her own business as Bowser walks up to her with a flower. Before she can answer, an elephant fruit hops by and upon touching Peach, she turns into an elephant. Side note: it’s weird that they just touch the fruits and mushrooms rather than eat them, right? In a♕ny case, when she transforms into an elephant, Bowser’s jaw drops open.

He’s surprised, obviously, but it also seems like it could be disgust. This beautiful and elegant creature before him, now transformed into a round and clumsy elephant. He🐻 puts the flower for his beloved away, then suddenly whips out a full bouquet and roars with delight. He was not disgusted at all, merely mesmerised by the gargantuan gorgeousness before him. It’s basically like when Shrek realises Fiona is an ogre.

This marks the first time Nintendo has acknowledged the internet’s interest in elephant Peach. It’s always been quite charming how oblivious Nintendo i🦩s to the fan art of its characters. There could be a level in a cake factory where you fall into whipped cream a🉐nd they’d have no reservations about telling you ‘Oh no, Daisy is all sticky and creamy!’. Even if this was a knowing ignorance, courting the internet’s attention while maintaining the innocence of deniability, it’s fascinating to see the company push past that here with Bowser’s interest in elephant Peach.

I have taste, so I’m on the Daisy train all the way. After immediately elephantising Daisyඣ in my preview, I switched to Peach to confirm it was oops, all elephants, then changed back to Daisy as soon as I could. Since all the characters play the same way, I’ll probably stick with Daisy for the majority of the full playthrough too. I wonder what lies ahead of her as well as elephantisation and inflation. A trip to the cake factory perhaps?

Bowser can try to lure elephant Peach all he wants,🤪 I know better than to mess with Big B. I’ll save my flowers for Daisy, where my only competition is Luigi. Time to give him another L to slap on his hat.
