With society being smack in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, many are looking to gaming to relieve the stress of their daily lives. Not wishing to pollute their controllers and consoles, cleaning is becoming a regular part of most people's routines. Just how exactly do you clean a console, though? According to Nintendo of Japan, you don't use alcohol-based cleaners.

In a post on Nintendo of Japan's Twitter support page, the company has advised gamers to stay away from disinfectants or wipes that may have alcohol in them. "We're very sorry to say please avoid us𓃲ing alcohol as it may cause the plastic parts to fa🐲de in color or deform," reads the post.

What does Nintendo suggest using, then? "We also cannot recommend using non-alcoholic disinfecting sheets, as depending on the ingredients, they may damage the plastic parts," . "To wipe off dirt, use a dry soft cloth."

That may not get most♎ of the gunk off of your console, but there is some logic to be had here. My typical go-to cleaning cloths are Windex/Glade electronic wipes and they have ruined the color of my Joy-Con. For the plastics Nintendo has used, it seems better to get yourself a microfiber cloth instead of using typical wet wipes.
