Nintendo casually dropped the price of an annual subscription to its online service plus the new expansion pack coming later this month during today's Animal Crossing Direct.

Today has been a big one for Animal Crossing fans as the hit game was treated to its very own Direct this morning. One that was loaded with more news than even the most hardened fanജs of the game would have been expecting. Ther🍬e was also some pretty big news for non-Animal Crossing players snuck in via the screenshot you can check out below.

The first news on how much Nintendo Switch Online's previously announced expansion pack 🐻is going to cost. As you can see in what is effectively part of the small print in the white bubble in the middle of the screen, an individual annual membership to NSO plus its upcoming expansion pack will be $49.99. A family membership for the year, which supports up to eight accounts, will cost $79.99.

The reason Nintendo sneakily revealed the prices during the Animal Crossing Direct is because the game's new expansion pack is included as part of the subscription. The pack will cost $24.99 when bought separately. That means the three perks currently confirmed for the expansion pack are the Animal Crossing DLC, plus access to the Switch's incoming N64 and Sega Genesis libraries.

An individual NSO membership with the expansion pack included will cost $30 more than the regular annual subscription, while a family membership will increase by $35 for the year. To more than double the price of those subscriptions may seem a little steep to those who were considering upgrading to the expansion pack depending on its cost. The $25 Animal Crossing DLC will have been included to help make the price seem more reasonable, but that doesn't help those who don't play the game.

The Switch's expansion pack was announced last month following rumors Nintendo was preparing to include more libraries from classic consoles online. The inclusion of N64 games was expected, but the reveal that the Genesis would be joining too took many people by surprise. Most thought it would be the Gam𒊎e Boy which could still be🌃 added in the future.
