With two weeks to go until Metroid Dread, Nintendo showcased two final trailers f𝕴or the game revealing more about its story and backdꦇrop.

Since Metroid Dread's release date is almost here, it only made sense that it would get prime real estate during Thursday's Nintendo Direct. The upcoming outing from Samus got not one, but two brand new trailers revealing more about Dread than ever before. Everything from new environments to never-before-seen villains, regardless of game or timelines, made appearances.

A deeper explanation as to why Samus has ventured to Planet ZDR and what she hopes to achieve by doing so was offered up. The EMMI robots set on hunting Samus down throughout the game were once tasked with searching for the X Parasite. Not only is it now on Dread's hero to find out if the parasite still exists, but she'll also have to do so while figuring out why the EMMI have turned dark.

The trailers also show off a lot of the different environments you will be exploring throughout Dread. Previous glimpses into the new game have focused largely on the sanitized laboratory backdrop in which Samus is being chased down by EMMI. The new trailers show off so muchꦬ more, including a jungle, caves, and oceans.

While the trailers don't specify how many areas of ZDR there will be for Samus to explore, it does explain that each of them has its own elements, as well as unique challenges and villains, some of which will be entirely new to even the most hardened Metroid players. The mystery of the Chozo is also a thread throughout the game, and it's revealed in the trailer above that not only were they once on ZDR, but it might have been their home planet.

If you felt relieved after finally seeing confirmation that Ba♔y🃏onetta 3 will launch on Nintendo Switch in 2022, just imagine how Metroid fans waiting for Dread must feel right about now. Dread has been in the works for more than 15 years, Nintendo just hasn't had the tech available to it until now to make its vision become a reality. Just two weeks left to go until we can all finally play a game many of us have been waiting over a decade for.
