Players who love the action and difficulty of the Dark Souls series will find a lot to enjoy with Nioh 2. It's a similar aesthetic, with hollowed NPCs, monstrous enemies, and gritty medieval locations replaced by Yokai and Japanese-inspired architecture. Team Ninja, the creative minds behind the entertaining (and crushingly difficult) Ninja Gaiden franchise, knocked it out of the park with their latest foray into the Nioh series.

This time around, players control protagonist Hide, a skilled Samurai warrior with the ability to learn and use Yokai abilities. Unlike the first game, characters can be completely customized, and Nioh 2 offers a pretty detailed character creation section. Players will be able to fiddle with a wide array of sliders and style choices, including things like: face shape, posture, age, eye color, gender, feature size, muscle definition, makeup, and much more. It's also possible to save and import creations, as well as "create codes," which can then be shared with other players. This had led to some amazing community creations that pay homage to a wide array of video game icons.

How To Change Your Appearance In Nioh 2

  • Go to the Map.
  • Scroll to the "Starting Section."
  • Select Hut.
  • Select "Change Your Appearance."

Nioh 2 comes packed with a Photo Mode, giving players even more pause when it comes to character creation. The quest to capture the best photos in Team Ninja's latest game isn't just about location and armor choice. Those who want the best photos possible will want complete control over every possible detail, including how their playable character looks. Thankfully, changing the protagonist's appearance in Nioh 2 is simple, fast, and free (concerning in-game currency).

Players are able to change their character as many times as they want, practically whenever they want, and there's no penalty or cost for switching and swapping. There is so much freedom in character creation in Nioh 2 and it makes the available photo mode even better. No matter what "look" players are craving, they'll be able to fluidly tweak their character's features, height, and a variety of other things at the snap of a finger.

While "constantly swapping the protagonist's appearance through each area" might break the immersion of the game, it's a welcome addition to the title and a huge boon for creative types that want to flex their design skills while slashing through hordes of demonic enemies.

How To Hide Your Headgear In Nioh 2

  • Hit the Pause Button.
  • Scroll to Settings.
  • Access "Basic Game Settings."
  • Toggle the option to hide headgear. (Toggled on means Headgear will be hidden, while off means it will be shown.)

What's the point of putting so much effort and time into crafting the perfect playable character if gamers aren't going to see their face for most of the adventure? There's a lot of gear to collect in Nioh 2 and some of the helmet choices will completely obscure the protagonist's face. Thankfully, Team Ninja realized this and implemented an option to allow players to freely toggle the visibility of the headgear.
