may soon be living up to the promise of its original premise, as Hello Games has revealed No Man's Sky Beyond - a fr♉ee update for the game that will give players an ex✤perience similar to that of an MMO.

When No Man's Sky was still in production, the developers mentioned that there would be a multiplayer component to the game, although they didn't detail how it would work and they downplayed it compared to the single player aspects of the game. No Man's Sky was released without any kind of multiplayer elements, which caused a lot of disappointed fans to claim that Hello Games had misrepresented th🐻eir product.

It took two years to arrive, but multiplayer did come to No Man's Sky in the form of the No Man's Sky Next update, which allowed smal💮l groups of players to play online with each other and explore the galaxy.

The scope of No Man's Sky's multiplayer is about to vastly increase, as Hello Games has announced the  update, which has been discussed in a post on the No Man's Sky website by Sean Murray.

"Earlier this year, whilst working on our roadmap of three future updates, we decided we wanted to interweave their features, and had a vision for something much more impactful.

We are excited to announce that Beyond will contain those three major updates rolled into one larger free release.

The first component of Beyond we are announcing today is No Man’s Sky Online.

No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Whilst this brings people together like never before, and has many recognizable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO – it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players."

No Man's Sky Beyond might finally allow the game to live up to the promises that were made back before the game was launched in 2016. If Sean Murray is to be believed (and he has certainly given fans enough reason not to trust him at this point), then No Man's Sky might finally allow the entire player base to exist in the galaxy at o🧸nce in a way that the fans had only dreamed of untiꦰl now.

No Man's Sky Beyond will be made available in summer, 2019.
