When it comes to a virtual reality adventure, there are fewer experiences as expansive and well-crafted as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:No Man’s Sky. Whether it’s seeing firsthand what it’s like to pilot a space cruiser or witnessing the true size of the monsters and monuments scattered throughout the planets♛, it’s a🗹n awe-inducing time for anyone with the hardware to pull it off.
As impressive as it may be, VR remains a very experimental concept in game development. Core mechanics fall flat, and otherwise problem-free ideas become issue♋s. If you want to make the most of your time in the deepest reaches of space, there are a few things you 𝕴should know.
Updated on April 12, 2023, by Branden Lizardi: With the release of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Interceptors Update, the No Man's Sky VR mode gained some new functionality. The focus of the update is on a new corrupted sentinel system, introducing new worlds, wonders, technology, and enemies. But before you can jump in and start shooting giant purple crystals in virtual reality, there are some tips and tricks that might prove helpful. We've updated this list with some new info while giving the existing content a bit more polish where possible. Enjoy!
7 💜 Punching Wildlife Is Way Too💜 Easy
When a game gives you hands, it’s only natural to want to use them. And when a game has a melee strike option, it seems only expected that you should be able to swing your hands to attack things in VR. The issue, however, is regarding intent. People move their hands quickly all the time, whether it’s waving goodbye, trying to catch something, or just being excited. Not everything is a punch. But in No Man’s Sky, any quick hand movement is, indeed, a punch.
What is intended as a friendly pat on a weird elephant goat thing has now become an aggressive smack on the head. Before you know it, the alpha goat-ephant is now chasing you down with a protective bloodlust. Slow, intentional hand motions𝔉 are the safest. Keep this in mind if you intend to make friends with the l💎ocal fauna.
6 🥃 Avoid The Anomaly In Multiplayer
No Mꦚan’s Sky doesn’t have the most impressive net code on the market. Since the Anomaly is an instanced hub for multiplayer connections, it will also be the epicenter of the most strenuous network activity. In the normal ✅game mode, this just means the occasional lag spike or delayed response.
But a loss of performance is a nightmare in VR. Lag, low frame rates, and stuttering are some of the fastest ways to experience what’s called cybersickness. It's not guaranteed to happen and will vary based on user settings and internet quality, but 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:it's a common issue for most players. Meeting new folks may be fun, 🐽but is it worth tripping ov♏er yourself in nausea?
You don’t have to avoid the Anomaly altogether. Disabling multiplayer while in VR a🎀llows you to ꦯvisit the hub with no issue.
5 ꩵ You Can Pose Yourself
You appear as a pair of floating hands in No Man's Sky VR mode by default. But you’re more than that. Your full character model still exists. It even conforms to the actions of your hands, with arms moving and elbows bending accordingly. More than that, others can see the model doing all of this. It’s easy to identify when someone else is playing in VR because they can move their arms in ways a traditional player can’t.
You can see it for yourself, too. Among the settings is an option to enable full body rendering while in first-person perspective. This will let you see your feet, arms, and everything. 𓆉Be warned; some awkward neck model clipping may occur. Take advantage of ♎this increased freedom of movement to create more unique and dynamic screenshots!
4 ✱ The Eye Stra🦹in Is Real
Jokes about sitting too close to the TV aside, the countless bright lights and neon colors make No Man’s Sky one of the more harsh environments to play on a screen inches from your face. This is especially true for scenes like warping between systems or engaging in a shootout with sentinels. Take breaks if your eyes hurt. Let them rest in some natural light before playing๊ again., and avoid long binge sessions in VR.
Limiting usage and allowing time for your eyes to rest is advice that could be applied to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:justღ about anything that uses a digital screen, sure, but if you were going to follow ⛄that advice for only one game, it should be this one.
3 ♚ There Is No T🧔hird-Person Perspective
Seeing things from your own eyes might be the ideal way to play a game on foot, but more times than not, things like vehicle travel are better done in the third person. Unfortunately, that’s simply not an option in No Man's Sky VR. Save yourself the trouble of scrambling through the quick settings, searching for the option to change it. Everything done in this mode is done in the first person.
In a certain way, it made things even cooler, allowing you to see the new and unique cockpits of things like the Nautilus and Minotaur up close and in detail. Navigation, however, might feel more hindered when you’re limited to the restricted view of the vehicle’s viewport.
2 ☂ Your Character’s Race Affeꩵcts Camera Height
Character customi🐻zation i💞s a great way to personalize your experience and feel connected to your avatar. It also serves ℱas a great reward option for players, grant𒐪ing new helmets and costumes for completing community events. While it’s all purely cosmetic in the base game, it does make a difference in VR.
Whatever race you set your character model to will determine the camera height. While most races are of the same approximate height, the Gek are notably shorter. As such,💞 anyone playing VR as a Gek character will have a ‘smaller’ perspective.
1 𓆉 Keep A Normal Controller On Hand For Vehicles
Flying your starship is half of No Man’s Sky. That’s why it’s such a shame that controlling your ship in No Man's Sky VR is such an imprecise and awkward process. Each vehicle has its own set of controls for operation, but with no real-world objects to grasp or limit hand movement, you’re left uncomfortably waggling your hands, trying to turn correctly or slow down the right amount.
Odds are you don’t need to suffer through that, though. The game supports hot-swapping controllers. If you’re playing on PlayStation with the PSVR, have 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a PlayStation controller connected and nearby. For PC, simply connect a controller how you would normally. Once you enter a vehicle, you can pick it up and use it to control fligh🐭t when needed. It will be a far more comfortable time, especially for extended travel.
The availability of this functionality on PC may vary. Things that might result in this 🅘not working include the controller model, VR system and operating software, PC game launcher, and firmware updates.
