that Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC this spring. Following its successful Indiegogo campaign, which exceeded its crowd-funded goal of $450K, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will once again featureꦜ basketball icon Shaquille O’Neil in𓆏 a hilarious beat ‘em-up style game where he will take on enemies as a fighting master.
Released in October 1994 on the Sega Genesis and Super NES, the original game, Shaq Fu, took full advantage of Shaq’s peaking notoriety and fame at the time, producing a comically terrible game in which Shaq fought hordes of mummies and demons 🥃throughout an alternate version of Japan. The remake aims to pu𝐆sh well beyond the original 16-bit game, utilizing today’s console technology with a reimagined vision of the game.
Big Deez Productions and Saber Interactive are the studios attached to the game. that Big Deez, along with Saber – known for its work on games including Quake Champions and Halo: The Master Chief Collection – initially teamed up with Shaq in 2014, to discuss ideas for a reimagined game that w💧ould equally match the legacy that the basketball star displayed during his time on the court. The of the collaborati🍌on came at the 2015 Video Game Awards, in which Shaq took the stage to reveal the teaser trailer for the game.
In-game footage from the released trailers should provide some excitement for fans of the cult-classic game, reminiscent in style to that of Golden Axe and Streets of Rage. The game depicts a top-heavy, muscled-up Big Diesel (Shaq) taking on soldiers and street thugs in hilariously over-the-top ways. It would be a miss if the game did not include some sort of reference to the big man’s size-twenty-two shoe. According to the trailer, t🍃his appears to have been accomplished through a special ability that Shaq can perform in which a giant, presumably magical shoe shoots out in front of Shaq, bashing the enemies in f𒐪ront of him.
From design to game-play mechanics, ultimately, almost anything would be an upgrade from the original game. Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn looks to be a fun remake that will hopefully ꦉovercome the woes of the original game and only improve upon the basketball legend’s video game legacy.
