Don't fall for these sins while 𝓀s💟olving this puzzle.
The Thieves Guild in Cyrodiil is a reclusive bunch of freelancers, to put it mildly. However, they rally around the Gray Fox and his principles to keep themselves functioning as a widespread group. Here's how to get in on the action and start your life as a freelance Thief.
How To Find The Thieves Guild
Finding the Thieves Guild in Cyrodiil can be difficult. You'll see posters around the Imperial City depicting the Gray Fox, and guards will warn you about the mysterious group. Some citizens will even question the existence of the Thieves Guild, but only the beggars know the truth.
To join the Thieves Guild, you'll need to befriend a Beggarin the Imperial City. Use the persuasion minigame to raise their disposition above 70 before asking about the Gray Fox.
You may need to bribe the begg❀ars with some coin as well, if all 🎉else fails.
Once you befriend a beggar, they'll ask why you're looking for the Gray Fox. Tell them that you're hoping to join the guild and work for the Gray Fox to learn that there's a meeting in the Garden of Dareloth at midnight.
How To Start The May The Best Thief Win Quest
Head to the Waterfront District, then make your way to the outskirts where the shacks are. Here is where you'll find a garden, along with several thieves at midnight.
Speak with Armand Christophe to learn that the two others gathered in the garden with you are your competitors. The challenge is to steal the diary of Amantius Allectus. Whoever gets the diary and returns it to Armand the next night ꧋will earn a spot in 🔜the guild.
Do not kill Amantius Allectus! You're a thief, not a murderer.
The May The Best Thief Win quest is timed, and your competitor Methredhel will take off running. She knows exactly where to go, so you can either follow her or ask the beggars around for more information.
It's best to follow Methredhel, as she will likely get to the diary before you. However, you can still snatch it before her if you act fast. Make sure you have plenty of lockpicks before heading out.
You can buy more from Armand for five gold each.
Where To Find Amantius Allectus' Diary
Amantius Allectus' diary is in his home, in the Temple District. Once there, make a right and f🦋ollow the path along the wall to rea🏅ch his house beside the next gate. Pick the lock on the door and break into his home.
The lock only has two tumblers to pick, so it shouldn't be too hard. Once inside, creep over to the desk on the first floor and grab the diary, then flee the home and return to Armand.
If you're fast enough, you can 𓂃complete the quest the very same night you start it.
However, if you fail to get the diary, your journal will update you that Methredhel has it. You'll need to steal it back from her, as she's hidden it within her home.
Find her house in the Waterfront District, near the garden where you meet Armand. Pick the lock on her door and the lock on the chest next to it. Be quick, grab the diary, and return to Armand with it at midnight in the garden to earn your spot in the Thieves Guild.
Where To Find Rohssan's Antique Cutlass
If Methredhel gets the diary and returns it to Armand, you can still join the Thieves Guild. Armand will give you a second chance, this time sending you to steal from the owner of A Fighting Chance in the Market District.
This is your last chance! If you fail to retrieve the cutlass before the deadline, May The Best Thief Win will fail, and you'll be barred from joining the guild.
Pick the average level lock on the door at night, then head up the stairs and pick the easy lock. There's a guard dog on the other side of the door, and he'll attack on sight. If you move🦋 quickly, you can avoid killing the dog.
The guard dog will wake the owners if you linger too long, so get 🌠moving!
Head to the right and pick the lock on a very easy chest, then snatch Rohssan's Antique Cutlass and make your way back to Armand in the garden. You'll officially join the Thieves Guild and unlock your first fence. 𒀰From here, you're 🔯on your own.
Start breaking into comely homes and fencing the valuables to increase your rank within the guild and unlock more quests.
