As courageous as he is kindhearted, the noble prince Hikari hails from the blood-soaked conqueror's Kingdom of Ku. He is a role model among royalty, an upstanding lad - the sort of man you'd hope to see rule your own lands, which puts his personality directly at odds with the spirit of the nation from whence he hails.

In short, Hikari strikes a fascinating figure, as many do within the world of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Octopath Traveler 2. His innate sense of decency quickly clashes with the grim realities of Ku, and so he'll soon embark on a journey to right the wrongs of his homeland. Here's how it all begins.

Battle Phase: The Southern Desert

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Ritsu Says It's Time

Unlike most story paths, Hikari's begins in the midst of combat. Or rather, it technically kicks things off with a couple of moments worth of chatter, but you're just as quickly thrust into a war zone - as befits the Kingdom of Ku.

Get to know Hikari's basic fighting mechanics. As a Warrior (job class), he has a few innate abilities already, but for now he'll primarily thrive on 'Learned Abilities' he's picked up from foes. While you can't do this yet, it's worth noting in advance that Hikari learns new abilities through dueling NPCs throughout the world. He can carry a maximum of five at once, because he's... a slightly beefed-up Pokemon or something. Look, we're sure these techniques require rigorous training.

Hikari will be joined by Ritsu and Rai Mei for this string of encounters. Have fun with them; this is the only time they'll ever be full-fledged party members. The first few scrapes are easy-peasy, and even the enemy general isn't so bad. The game's doing a fine job reinforcing the might of Ku. Still, when you do come up against the Southern Army's horseman, just know you can always defend and/or heal if things get dicey.

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Southern Army Battle

A good technique for all chara𓆉cters in Octopath Traveler 2, but especially Hikari, is to build up BP by only attacking once (at most)ܫ for a few turns and then unleashing a fully-boosted strike.

Town Phase: Ku

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Teaching People How To Fight

After your grim introduction to Hikari's brother Mugen, several more tone-setting scenes will play out, followed by a skip ahead to Hikari teaching folks in town how to defend themselves. Notably, he's looked down upon by others in his social class for doing so - but the townsfolk sure do love him for it. Good guy, this Hikari.

The tavern you'll be sent to is to the southwest. Take some time to chat up the villagers first if you'd like, though you're formally introduced to Hikari's daytime 'Path Action', Challenge, once you arrive at the tavern. One of Mugen's many flunkies is behaving rather poorly, so we'll set him straight with a one-on-one duel. That's what Challenges are all about; it'll always be Hikari up against the target, no holds barred, first to fall loses.

Don't be afraid to use Challenge on people all throughout the world even when it seems unlikely you'll win. NPCs come in difficulty estimates ranked from one to ten; the higher, of course, the harder they'll be. But the good news is, you don't actually get a game over for losing. Rather, Hikari simply ends up with 1 HP afterward, and you can freely duel the victor in the fut✅ure again 🌌as many times as it takes to win. Just be sure to heal up before getting into real battles!

Afterward, do as you've been bid, heading up the ramparts over to the 'Western Keep', which is really just an overhead angle of the city. Here, you'll find the fine chap Benkei, but unexpectedly, the emperor as well. Things are heating up now. With the emperor's words in mind, it's time for Hikari to dig deeper into this conspiracy.

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Merchant Bribed in Castle Town

Go north a screen for a scene in which Hikari watches a conversation play out. Now that it's evening, you'll learn about Hikari's nighttime Path Action, Bribe. Go inside the big building on the left of this area and use Bribe on the merchant to learn some 🃏key intel.

Dungeon Phase: Southern Ku Sands

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Canoeing in Ku

Admittedly, the Southern Ku Sands are not a desert - they're just one of Octopath Traveler 2's many travel routes. But the line between dungeons and routes often blurs in this game, so here we are.

Take your time fully exploring the area; you won't be able to progress particularly far to the south without hitting defensive fencing and/or having Hikari abscond himself because he doesn't need to go that way. We recommend leveling up a few times before advancing to the Crest of Heroes, which will be marked with a green quest icon on your mini-map. You'll be up against the first real boss in Octopath Traveler 2 once you get there.

If you're willing to spring for it, consider leveling to around seven to be safe. When you're ready, head southeast from town, ascend the winding hill, and let's get down to business.

Boss Phase: Ritsu

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Boss Against Ritsu

Ritsu has five Shield Points. If this is your first chapter in Octopath Traveler 2, note that Shield Points are the number of times an enemy must be struck with whatever they're weak against before they're 'open' and can take heavy damage from you. That's kind of the core rhythm behind the game's combat system. Thus, it's imperative that we figure out a boss' weaknesses, to crack open those Shields as quickly as possible.

Ritsu's weaknesses are as follows: Sword, Bow, and Fire. Additionally, he comes with a pair of relatively weak henchman, whose weaknesses include Sword, Bow, Polearm, and Fire. Importantly, that means they're all weak to Sword and Fire; there's not a lot you can do about the Fire part, but you can certainly work with Sword.

There's a specific attack you'll want to use to crack open the henchman in one turn whilst breaking one Shield Point on Ritsu. Aggressive Slash will hit Ritsu and the troopers a few times in a single turn; the further you boost Aggressive Slash, however, the more times it will hit. Saving up and boosting it twice should be sufficient to ensure you hit everybody. Afterward, either use the move🙈 again or just attack the henchmen with a single-boosted normal Sword-based blow to wipe them out.

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Latent Power Unleashed

Once you have dealt enough damage to Ritsu, you'll be introduced to Hikari's latent power, which like all characters' latent powers builds up over time via a gauge. You can choose when to use it, and we always recommend completely boosting with full BP before doing so to maximize the damage output. If you can time things just so, have Hikari use Shadow's Hold (the latent power) - specifically Tenretsuzan, as seen above - while Ritsu's Shield is broken. You'll almost certainly end the fight this way.

Otherwise, just hit Ritsu with a slightly less powerful Tenretsuzan, keep an eye on your health, and it shouldn't be long before he falls.

Dungeon Phase: Ku Castle

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Locating Oboro's Journal

The remainder of Hikari's introductory chapter is fairly straightforward, if harrowing. Return to Ku, head to its northern screen again, and enter Castle Ku proper. While you're here, be sure to find an item called 'Oboro's Journal' if you can; it's on the right side of the screen after descending a ladder about midway up the tower. If you don't find it, no big - but it's quite the read, and it contains some valuable information for much, much later in the game.

Hikari Octopath Traveler 2 Benkei's Faith

Beyond that, all you'll be doing is heading up a few flights of stairs, slashing down some random encounters along the way. Once you reach the top, a climactic scene triggers in which Hikari confronts the treacherous Mugen. Enjoy the melodrama, and watch the dramatic closing sequence of Hikari's introductory chapter.
