The time has come to face the truth about the biggest crime in the history of the Pokémon franchise, as the official Pokémon Twitter account has point♏ed out that Porygon has done nothing wrong.

Porygon has had almost no role in the Pokémon anime, due to an incident that occurred in Japan in '97. There was an episode of the anime called "Cyber Soldier Porgyon", where Ash and his friends entered a virtual world with the aid of a Poryon. This episode quickly became infamous, due to a scene where blue and red lights flashed in quick succession, causing children to experience mild illness. Children with epilepsy were hit the hardest by this, though o💟nly a small number of kids required a trip to the hospital. This incident almost killed the Pokémon anime, which was forced to enter a four-month hiatus. The episode was never broadcast again and it was never localized for other regions, though copies can be found online (but we don't recommend you seek them out, due to the aforementioned scene).

The "Cyber Sold🐓ier Porygon" incident resulted in Porygon and i🧸ts evolutions never having a major appearance in the anime again, not counting brief cameos in the intro/outro sequences. This is considered to be unfair by fans, as the attack that caused the blue/red flashing was performed by Pikachu, not Porygon. The official Pokémon Twitter page has addressed this injustice in a new post, claiming that Porygon did nothing wrong.

Porygon and its evolutions have paid the price for the "Cyber Soldier Porygon" episode for decades now, even though the fervor surrounding it has long since faded away. Th♐e Pokémon franchise went on to become a global hit and the episodes of the anime have never featured anything close to flashing lights since.

The reason Porygon took the fall was because Pikachu was the fa𝔉ce of the franchise and he was becoming an incredibl𝐆y profitable mascot. The creators of the Pokémon anime likely never intended to use Porygon again after the episode anyway, so it was easy enough to downplay the line's importance in future series. The Porygon line has been ignored for long enough, and it's long overdue for a return to the Pokémon anime.
