Ash Ketchum may have finally won a Pokémon League earlier this year, but the official Pokémon websit𓆏e isn't about to let everyoꦛne forget about his losses, as it now has a page chronicling Ash's many failures in his career.
The Pokémon anime was originally only meant to have a limited run, which would likely have ended with Ash beating Gary in the finals of the Indigo League. The production of the series was delayed following the "Electric Soldier Porygon" episode incident, where children across Japan experienced seizures following a sequence with flashing red and blue lights. The exploding popularity of Pokémon video games led to the series being extended even further, which meant that Ash had to keep losing during each final tournament in order to keep traveling to𝓰 the next region.
Ash Ketchum's many losses in the Pokémon Leagues have been chronicled in a news post on the official website. Ash's s𝔍ix losses in the different tournaments he entered before his recent victory in the Alola Manalo Conference are all detailed. The list also conveniently forgets to mention Ash's victory in the Orange League, though the status of 🗹that event as a full Pokémon League is often called into question.
It's hard to say which of Ash's losses is more disappointing, as there are two that stand out among the crowd. Ash was annihilated during the Lily of the Valley Conference in Sinnoh when he faced off against a trainer who only used Mythical and Legendary Pokémon, while many fans called foul of his final match in the Lumiose Conference when his Greninja clearly had the a🅰dvantage against Alain's Mega Charizard X, but still lost the battle.
Ash finally won a Pokémon League in 2019, and his role in the anime will be different going forward, as he will be sharing the spotlight with a character named Go, who wants to complete the Pokédex. Ash's losses in the past were necessary for being able to continue the story of the series. Many fans believed that his victory in Alola spelled the end of his tenure as the protagonist of the Pokémon anime. It seems, however, that Ash will still be part of the show for a little while longer. He might finally be done with Pokémon Leagues for good, though, which means no more jobbing out in order to better promote the region in the next mainline Pokémon game.
