The Unreal Engine 5 announcement this week has renewed interest in Square Enix leak from last month that was generally꧅ dismissed as a hoax.

The ꦰleak, which was , contained a list of 14 upcoming 💫Square Enix titles, as well as their projected release date, platform, and game engine.

The game engine details originally led many to dismiss the leak, since Unr𒈔eal Eng♍ine 5 had not yet been announced and it was hard to believe Epic had developed a new game engine in secret so soon after Unreal Engine 4.

Now that Unreal Engine 5 has been officially announced, the old Square Enix leak suddenly has a lot more credibility, and fans of Kingdom HeartsFinal FantasyTomb Raider, and Just Cause should all have som🔯ething new to look forward to.

Several of the titles in the leak are games that have already been announced. Nier Replicant 1.5 and Outriders have both been officially announced. Their release dates are listed as Q2 2021 and 2021, respective💝ly.

There are 2 separate Kingdom Hearts titles listed in the leak. One titled Project OATH is slotted for a Q1 2022 release date on PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia and is being developed on the unreal engine. The other is an Untitled Project with no projected release date, in development in UE5 for PS5 and "Xbox". A 2022 release date for a PS4/Xbox One game would certainly seem odd, considering both PS5 and Xbox Series X will release later this year. The upcoming Kingdom Hearts Dark Road is absent from that list, but it may not be considered a new title as it will functionally be an update to Kingdom Hearts Union Cross.

There are 2 Final Fantasy projects on the list. One, FF Project Sancta, is in development for PS5 and Xbox with no release date. The other is Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2. It is in development for PS5, Xbox, and Windows, and is supposedly scheduled for a Q1 2023 release date. If the leak is true, there will be a 3-year wait for the next installment in the FF7 Remake series.

Other titles include Project Traveler, possibly a sequel to Octopath Traveler, scheduled for next year on the Switch, Life Is Strange 3, and Just Cause 5 (2022).

The leak also mentions a new Tomb Raider scheduled for next year called Tomb Raider: Eclipse which is described as a "൩stealth, dynamic adventure". This may indicate it is yet another reboot for the seri♛es.
